WHAT ARE WIRELESS SECURITY CAMERAS?


 Wireless security cameras are closed-circuit television
(CCTV) cameras that transmit a video and audio signal to a
wireless receiver through a radio band.
 Wireless cameras are proving very popular among modern
security consumers due to their low installation costs and flexible
mounting options.
 Wireless cameras can be mounted/installed in locations
previously unavailable to standard wired cameras.
 Wireless security camera allows users to leverage broadband
wireless internet to provide seamless video streaming over-
internet.

TYPES OF SECURITY CAMERAS-


BOX STYLE SECURITY CAMERA
A Box Style camera is a standalone camera. The name is derived from
the shape of the camera.
Features:
 Functions like any other camera.
 Can be used in Outdoor Environmental Housings or for Indoor
mountings if aesthetics are not a concern.
Benefits:
 Allows for customization of the lens, camera and housing to fit the
needs of the installation.
 Offers many lens options, including varifocal and fixed.

DOME SECURITY CAMERA
A dome camera is a combination of camera, lens, and ceiling mount
packaged in a discreet dome shape.

Features:
 Functions like any other camera but comes in a dome-shaped housing.
 Is well-suited for environments that tend to get dirty, like kitchens and
warehouses.
 Typically available in indoor or outdoor housings.
Benefits:
 Aesthetically pleasing / compact in appearance.
 Available in vandal-resistant housings.

PTZ SECURITY CAMERA
A PTZ camera contains mechanical controls that allow the operator to
remotely pan, tilt, and zoom the camera.
Features:
 Pan, Tilt and Zoom features.
 Control movement via joystick or software.
 Can automatically run patterns or turn to a preset position.
Benefits:
 Focuses on areas of interest.
 Auto Track movement.
 Survey a wide area of interest and zoom in to detail

BULLET SECURITY CAMERA


A bullet camera is a combination of camera, lens, and housing packaged
in a bullet-style body.

 Commonly includes IR illuminators.

 Small footprint.
Benefits:
 Requires no separate housing or lens.
 Good for low-light situations

IP SECURITY CAMERA
An IP camera transmits a digital signal using Internet Protocol over a
network.
Features:
 Increased resolution and scalability
 Many have built-in video analytic software.
Benefits:
 Better system management than analog cameras.
 Resolutions from VGA to 29 Megapixel.

DAY/NIGHT SECURITY CAMERA
A day/night camera is a camera used indoor and outdoor for
environments with low light conditions.
Features:
 IR filter that is lifted as lighting levels decrease.
Benefits:
 Handles both day and night-time lighting situations.

THERMAL SECURITY CAMERA
A thermal camera uses thermal imaging to produce surveillance
footage in dark or harsh environments.  It uses heat to differentiate
objects.
Features:
 Uses heat sensing to distinguish objects and people.
Benefits:
 Detect people and objects in smoke, haze, dust, light fog.
 Works in complete darkness.

WIDE DYNAMIC SECURITY CAMERA


Wide Dynamic Cameras have the ability to balance light-levels on a
pixel-by-pixel basis.
Features:
 Capable of handling a wide range of lighting levels in the same scene.

Benefits:
 Capture clear face shots when a people are entering with bright light
behind them and with dark shadows on their faces.
 Used in areas with too much sunshine or where headlights are used,
such as parking lots.

RECORDING SYSTEM IN SECURITY CAMERAS –
NVRs (network video recorder) and DVRs (digital video recorder) are
what you use to manage, view, and store surveillance videos. Available
with a variety of software and hard drive sizes, NVRs and DVRs make it
easy to save and review videos. Which one you need, and how it works,
depends on having CCTV or IP surveillance cameras.

HOW NVR’s AND DVR’s WORK?


NVRs and DVRs have the same job of saving and storing surveillance
videos, but they are designed to work with different types of cameras.
Both NVRs and DVRs come in form factors—standalone appliance, a
tower server, or a rackmount server.
NVRs and DVRs are ideal for managing multiple cameras from one
central location. They can improve your surveillance system by:

 Storing larger amounts of video files than a camera can store on a


local Micro SD card, allowing you to keep videos for longer periods of
time or record larger HD videos.
 Setting up alerts and motion detection windows, if those features
aren’t available through your cameras.
 Reviewing and analyzing all your surveillance videos from a single
interface, instead of accessing each camera’s videos individually.

DIFFERENCE BETWEEN DVR & VCR?

SUMMARY-
 Both systems record video data and are reliable.
 Although in the past the video quality of DVR systems lagged
behind comparable NVR systems, today this gap is significantly
lessened.
 The difference between DVR and NVR systems come down to the
cost, how the data is transmitted, and type of cameras.
 NVR systems tend to have better picture quality, as well as easier
installation, increased flexibility, and native support for audio on
every camera that has a microphone.
 However, NVR systems also tend to be quite a bit more expensive
than comparable DVR systems, which is an important
consideration for the budget conscious consumer.
 For people looking for a relatively straightforward security system,
a DVR system will most likely be sufficient, especially if your
property is already wired for a coaxial cable from an existing
security system.
 If you need a top of the line, very flexible solution, an NVR based
system will be best.
 At the end of the day, the deciding factor will be based on the
specific security needs of your property.
