The Department of Education in the National Capital Region of the Philippines suspended classes from January 15-22, 2022 and January 24-29, 2022 to ease the burden of rising COVID-19 cases. Teachers did not have to report physically and were expected to do training and work from home. Students had to complete backlogs and take quarterly exams remotely by uploading work from February 7-12. Schools would make up lost instructional time through independent and remedial activities.

SUBJECT SUSPENSION OF CLASSES

DATE January 14, 2022

1. To ease the health burden caused by the surge of Covid-19 cases to the physical
and mental well-being of the school personnel and learners, the DepED National
Capital Region suspends the conduct of classes starting Saturday, January 15,
2022, and on Monday, January 17 until Saturday, January 22, 2022 and shall
resume on January 24 to 29 on purely asynchronous distance leaning modalities.

2. For the duration of the suspension of classes, it is expected that physical reporting
of teachers will be not required by the school heads.

3. The Mid-year Break scheduled on January 31 to February 5, 2022 shall be utilized


by the leamers to comply with backlogs in learning outputs while teachers are
expected to attend to their usual acfivities including In-service Trainings and other
leaming related undertakings.

4. The Quarter 2 examinations shall be conducted on February 7 -8, 2022.

5. Submission of learning outputs by the students is scheduled on February 7 to 12


using on- line platforms and oher mechanisms, sans in-person contact/interface.

6. The lost contact days shall be compensated by mechanisms such as independent


study, remediation, enhancement activities and other related teaching-learning
interactions. The School Heads are instructed to design schemes /strategies in
order fo operationalize these mechanisms.

7. tis highly encouraged that the teachers and learners to just stay at home to avoid
the contamination of the virus.
