AIMS:
A) SPECIFIC AIMS: by the end of the lesson the Ss will be able to:
 identify seasons;
 talk about weather conditions;
 develop speaking and listening skills;
B) AFFECTIVE AIMS:
 to create a warm atmosphere in order to offer the background for
smooth, easy conversations between teacher and students;
 to make students confident in themselves when speaking a foreign
language

PROCEDURE

ACTIVITY 1: ORGANIZATIONAL MOMENT: (1`)


Procedure: T enters the class, greets the Ss and then asks if there are any absents.
The S on duty tells the absentees if there are any.
Aims: to assure the introductive part of the lesson.
Skills: speaking
Techniques: questioning
Interaction: T->Ss

ACTIVITY 2: WARM UP (5`)


Procedure: T pins up the food flashcards from Unit 6 “A sweet tooth”. T names a
food item at random. T shows the flashcards one by one and asks the pupils to
name the items they see. Pupils answer and T checks their answers.
Aims: - to create a friendly environment;
- to check their knowledge from the previous lessons;
- to show Ss that they are capable of using the words and structures they
have learnt;
- to capture the Ss` interest and attention.
Skills: speaking
Techniques: explanations if necessary
Interaction: T->Ss; S->S;Ss->T

ACTIVITY 3: INTRODUCING VOCABULARY (8`)


Procedure: T pins up the “The Weather poster” on the board. T points to the
weather conditions (It’s hot. It’s cold, etc) one at a time and presents them. The
pupils repeat after the teacher. T points to the weather conditions in random order.
The pupils repeat after the teacher. T asks pupils to open the book at page 72 and
writes 72 on the board. T plays the CD recording. The pupils listen, point and
repeat.

Aims: - to involve the class by focusing Ss’ attention on what they will practise;
- to encourage Ss’ active participation;
- to create a pleasant atmosphere;
Skills: listening, speaking

ACTIVITY 4: GUIDED LISTENING (10`)


Procedure: T says the instructions twice and asks “What’s the weather like today?
Can you say? Can you say?”The pupils repeat after the teacher. T points to the
first picture and says. “It’s snowing today”. The pupils repeat after the teacher and
they do this with the rest of the pictures. T plays the recording, the pupils listen and
sing along joining in with the actions.
Aims:- to consolidate the vocabulary;
- to raise students’ attention upon the topic;
- to work individually;

ACTIVITY 5: MATCHING ACTIVITY( 8’)


Procedure: T asks pupils to look over ex2 from page 72 and writes the number on
the board. Teacher reads the instructions and explains the activity. T points to each
picture and elicits the weather. T asks Ss to match the pictures with the sentences.
T allows Ss some time to complete the task and check their answers .
Aims: ; - to relax Ss;
- to create feedback

ACTIVITY 6: STORY TIME (10`)


Procedure: T pins up “The story time” poster, ex 3, page 73, points to the sun in
the 1st picture and asks “What is the weather like today? The pupils answer. T
points to the second picture and elicits “It’s hot and sunny”. The pupils repeat.
Then the teacher points to the poster and asks a volunteer to come in front of the
class and ask ‘What’s the weather like for each picture?” and the rest of the Ss
have to answer the question.
Aims: - to develop the skill of listening;
- to encourage interaction;
- to make Ss active and confident in themselves.

ACTIVITY 7: GAME TIME (7`)


Procedure: T tells the pupils that they are going to play “The weather game” and
they have to mime different weather conditions. T says a weather condition and
they have to mime it (ex. being cold), and then one of them comes in front of the
class and mimes a weather condition and the others have to guess it.
Aims: - to encourage interaction;
- to make Ss active and confident in themselves;

ACTIVITY 8: EVALUATION AND FEEDBACK (7`)


Procedure: T giges each S a worksheet and they have to complete the weather
condition for each picture.T allows some time for Ss to complete the task and after
that she checks their answers. T appreciates the active Ss and gives advice to the
less active ones, T thanks Ss for their work and gives homework.
Aims: - to increase Ss` self confidence and encourage them in their study of
English;
- to give feedback to the class;
- to say how well the Ss performed the tasks;
Interaction: T->Ss.
