1) The Sangguniang Kabataan of Barangay Maharlika in Bislig City, Philippines is organizing a search for the most improved purok and institutions in solid waste management from July 27 to August 2-3, 2021. 2) The activity aims to promote solid waste management programs and compliance with Republic Act 9003 while developing awareness, participation, and knowledge around proper waste segregation and handling. 3) Fourteen puroks will participate in the semi-annual evaluation and the winners will be announced at a proclamation ceremony in April 2021. Prizes totaling 45,000 PHP will be awarded to the top performing puroks.

Participants : 14 PUROKS

II. RATIONALE:

Republic Act No. 9003, otherwise known as the Ecological Solid Waste Management Act
of 2000. Local Executives are enjoined to strictly observe the provision of RA 9003 in their
respective units. Cleanliness has given attention particularly to our puroks. Everyone must aware
of their surroundings and the environment they live. The fresh air they breathe. Cleanliness is
Godliness.

III. OBJECTIVES:

1. Generally, it aims to promote the importance of solid waste management program, and its
effects in our community and environment.
2. Specifically:

a. To develop awareness in the efficient implementation on Solid Waste Management.


b. To increase participation by all purok and institution on handling and the proper
segregation of garbage.
c. To gain knowledge on the provision of RA 9003 especially in penalties and violations in
the said Republic Act.
d. To establish a reward system purposely to encourage and motivate our Purok and
institutions and to gain support from the populace on Solid Waste Management Program.
IV. METHODOLOGY:

The Maharlika Barangay Council has unloaded the Responsibilities to the Search
Committee. The Activity of the Search for the Most Improved Purok in Solid Waste Management
which will be primarily participated by the 14 Puroks. Then the Committee will prepare the
mechanics & criteria. The Maharlika Barangay Council will hire qualified evaluators in order to
give fair and legitimate decision based on the criteria set forth by the committee.

V. COURSE/PROJECT CONTENTS:

Schedule of evaluation, March 29-20, 2021 (8: 00 AM- 5: 00 PM)


1. Orientation of 14 Puroks and other Institutions for the criteria of the search
2. Invite evaluators from the City Solid Waste Management Office.
3. Initiate the conduct of Training, seminar and orientation of our constituents.

VI. VENUE AND DURATION:

This search is conducted semi- annually within 14 Puroks in Maharlika, Bislig City.
Proclamation of winners of 1st quarter evaluation will be during First Monday of April 2021 at Brgy Hall,
Maharlika, Bislig City.
