Addition of Similar Fraction

In adding similar fraction: add the numerators as a whole number then copy the
denominator. Lastly reduce your answer to lowest term by getting the Greatest Common
Factor.

Direction: Match Column A with its sum in column B. Write your answer before the
number.
e A B
__________ 1. 12/20 + 6/20 = a. 1
c
__________ 2. 6/14 + 2/14 = b. 9/10
b
__________ 3. 2/9 + 4/9 = c. ½
d
__________ 4. ⅙ + 2/6 = d. 4/7
__________
a 5. ⅖ + ⅗+ e. ⅔

Addition of Dissimilar Fraction

In adding dissimilar fraction: Rename the fractions as similar fractions by finding
first the LCD or the Least Common Denominator. Then add the numerators then copy
denominator. Simplify the the fraction if needed.

Direction: Underline the correct answer.

1. ½+⅙= a. 1¼ b. ¾ c. ¼ d. ⅓
2. ¾ +3/6 = a. ¾ b. 2/6 c. 6/10 d. 1
3. 5/10 + ¾ = a. 8/14 b. ¾ c. 6/9 d. 2¾
4. 5/15 + ¼ = a. 8/12 b. 2⅔ c. 9/10 d. 1¾
5. 6/8 + 10/12 = a. ⅔ b. 7/11 c. 3¾ d. 1

Subtraction of Similar Fraction

In subtracting similar fraction, subtract the numerators and copy the
denominator. Reduce answer to lowest term.

Direction: Subtract the following fraction. Select your answer in the box below.
1) 5-3 = 2) 9 - 5 3) 10 - 6 = 4) 12 - 5 = 9 - 27/11
7 7 2/7 12 12 4/12 11 11 4/11 15 15
7/15 5) 11 11
=

7/11 4/11 7/15 4/12 2/7

Subtraction of Dissimilar Fraction

In subtracting dissimilar fraction: Make dissimilar fraction into similar fraction by
finding the Least Common Denominator. Then subtract the numerators and copy the
common denominator. Simplify your answer.

Direction: Find the difference. Find your answer in the box below.
1) 3-1 = 2) 4 - 1 3) 8 - 1 = 4) 5 - 2 = 5) 7 - 3 =
4 2 1/3 8 6 1/4 10 4 11/20 6 3 1/6
1/10
10 5
