to influence others?
Social influence takes place intentionally or unintentionally to change other people’s
beliefs, attitudes or behavior. With this, people use their knowledge of social influence to
influence others through strategies that appeal to the society’s emotion. For example,
one may use his weak side or his low class status in the past to gain the support of the
electorate. Moreover, one can change how others act toward a certain issue or person
through his authority that will help his claim become dominant. Rampant issue or
practice of social influence nowadays is through conformity. It tackles about a desire for
accuracy or informational influence. It also pertains to the need for social approval or
normative influence. Several variables affect conformity rates and these are; culture,
age, gender, and the size of the group. Conformity equates validation. It leaves an
impression to the society that one must conform to the trending values, beliefs, and
such of the society. If an individual fails to do so, he will be subjected to various
criticisms and discriminations. Pressure is the main reason why people’s mental health
is at stake as of the moment.
