Study & Maintenance of Dyeing Machine
Study & Maintenance of Dyeing Machine
Experiment No: 04
Name of the Experiment: Study & Maintenance of Dyeing Machine
Remark:
Dyeing is a process of coloring textile materials for giving attractive look. In broadly sense,
dyeing is a process by which a yarn, fabric, garments and any other materials that come to
contact of dye by presence of auxiliaries that create the condition of dyeing environment.
Dyeing operation is done by different types of dyeing machine. The machine which is used to
dyeing or coloring of materials like yarn, fabric, garments or any other materials is called
dyeing machine. Dyeing machines come in all shapes and sizes to accommodate the various
forms and quantities of textile materials. It is the device that is used by different industries for
imparting colors. Various types of textiles dyeing machines are used to dye the textile
materials. Dyeing machine is designed for the pre-treatment, dyeing and aftertreatment of
fabric in rope form, either tubular or open width.

7.0 HEALTH & SAFETY
Use and maintain personal protective equipment such as Hand Gloves, Gum Boots,
head cap etc., as specified.
Never handle chemicals with bare hands.
Report to the supervisor any service malfunctions in the machine that cannot be
rectified.
Store materials and equipment at their designated places.
Minimize health and safety risks to self and others due to own actions.
Monitor the workplace and work processes for potential risks.
Do not open the door of heated machine while the temperature is above 75°C.
Do not carry any metallic parts during machine running as there are chances of fire
and damage to machine parts.
Act based on instructions in the event of fire, emergencies or accidents and participate
in mock drills/ evacuation procedures organized at the workplace as per the
organization procedures.
8.0 CONCLUSION
In fabric dyeing machine, the fabric is dyed in rope form. The rope is passed through a
pressurized nozzle, which continuously sprays dye liquor. So in this experiment we have
learned about the dyeing machine including its parts & their functions and later we have
learned about how the machine is functioned properly. Then we were taught about the
maintenance procedure and safety management of this dyeing machine. Dyeing machine
holds its enormous importance for the bulk production to make the garment aesthetic. So, as a
textile engineer, we have to gain proper knowledge about this machine and we have fulfilled
our mentioned objectives fully from this experiment, it will enhance our knowledge & helpful
for our future working area and do the works related with the fabric dyeing machine.
