ABSTRACT
Covid 19 caused many changes. For example, when viewed from the aspect
of education, namely learning that is done online, but at this time some schools
began to implement PTM (Face-to-Face Learning). At the time of PTM or online
teachers should be able to create new learning methods by using more effective
learning media in order to be easily accepted by students. And of course creative
and innovative. Therefore, this study is aimed at writing about the feasibility of the
learning media "One Dice Chemistry Quiz" in improving students' understanding
of acid-base matter. This game is played in groups through 2 innings. Each group
will roll the dice and the group that gets the largest number can answer the question
back 2 times in a row. The groups must answer the questions given quickly and
precisely. Each of these research methods applies quantitative types through with
library methods. The data on this study was obtained from scientific articles
published in national journals. The data that has been obtained will be analyzed
quantitatively with certain criteria. Through this literature study the authors
analyzed whether the game "One Dice Chemistry Quiz" is worth using to students
or not. From the results of the data analysis obtained, it was concluded that the "One
Dice Chemistry Quiz" is worth using to improve students' understanding of acid-
base matter.

Introduction
Currently Indonesia and other countries are facing a threat in the form of the
virus, namely the covid 19 virus. On the kompas.com page (2020) (Pranita, 2020)
it was written that the beginning of the news of covid 19 cases was when the
beginning of March 2021. However, UI Epidemiologist, Pandu Riono, said that
corona virus was most likely already in our country at the beginning of January
2020. This virus has long attacked Indonesia but until now there has been no signal
about a corona-free Indonesia. The impact of corona virus is huge. An example of
the affected aspect is education. On the covid19.go.id page (2021) (Covid19.go.id,
2021) it is mentioned that ppkm level 1-3 area is allowed to carry out offline
teaching and learning activities but on a limited number. It has also been mentioned
in the Joint Decree carried out by 4 Ministers, written about the procedures for the
implementation of teaching and learning activities during the COVID-19 pandemic
(2021) (Kemdikbud, 2021) that in the implementation of offline teaching and
learning activities still have to apply distance restrictions and also the maximum
number of learners of each class. Teachers should be able to make the best use of
face-to-face learning activities by teaching materials that are not yet understood by
students. Therefore, teachers should be able to implement learning programs with
the help of effective and innovative learning media in the hope that students will
easily understand the lessons described.
According to (Sadiman, Rahardjo, Haryono, & Harjito, 2006) Media is a
tool, which is useful for conveying messages from speakers to an audience that can
make a student interested in the lessons delivered. There are 2 main components in
learning media, namely hardware and software components that it transports, in the
form of messages. Tools for the learning process require equipment to convey
messages, but the main point is the material contained in the equipment so it is not
the equipment. Choosing appropriate teaching and learning tools can be used to
ensure the material is appropriately accepted or not. (Azmi, Rukun, & Maksum,
2020). An interesting teaching and learning process in a pandemic like this is
needed to help the course of learning. Learning media will always be needed by
speakers to convey their material to be more effective.

2
Learning tools have the advantage, namely (1) helping teachers to achieve the
goals of learning, namely by facilitating teachers in the explanation of materials,
(2) can increase students' desire to do learning so that they can understand the
lessons given well. In his research, Stanford (in Freitas) (De Freitas, 2006)
mentioned that the game has an advantage, which is to help students become more
excited in the learning process. If students are eager to improve their learning, it
will make students really to do learning such as paying attention to teachers,
understanding the material delivered, and applying it.
There are several things that must be reviewed again before choosing a tool
for learning, namely must be in accordance with the target of the teaching and
learning process, pay attention to the match of the media used with the material to
be provided, ensure the facilities and infrastructure meet the standards, understand
the character of students, consider the costs used with the benefits obtained,
estimate the time to prepare. Moreover, the selection of learning media in pandemic
times like this, where the process of learning to learn to teach offline began. The
media and methods selected must be appropriate according to their needs and still
adhere to health protocols. Teachers should be able to use the time available for
Face-to-Face Learning as well as possible to convey material that is not yet
understood by students.
Techniques that can be applied by teachers as a reference for the learning
process in class are learning methods while playing. This method can make students
become closer to other friends. In addition to learning methods while playing,
interaction between students can also be built with question and answer activities
and given motivation. The question and answer process has several advantages,
namely (a) making the class active, (b) helping to embolden the child in the delivery
of opinions in public, (c) students become more focused, (e) the teacher can analyze
the level of understanding of the student to the material provided.
One medium that suits the method of learning while playing is the game "One
Dice Chemistry Quiz". Data from this study was obtained from a national article.
Rachma and Achmad (2012) conducted a similar study (Arum & Lutfi, 2012), and
from that study it can be concluded that a chemistry quiz based on ranking one game
is indeed worth using to improve students' understanding. From these results,

3
researchers can dream that the purpose of this study is to find out how worthy the
"Media Game One Dice Chemistry Quiz" is to improve students' understanding of
both acid-base material and others. With the application of this learning media, it is
expected that students can be more motivated to carry out the learning process. And
it is also expected that this learning media can be used by teachers for the teaching
process to be more varied and not monotonous.

Method
This method uses the library method. This research data was obtained from
scientific articles in the form of publications in national journals. Data that has been
obtained from national journals will be analyzed quantitatively with certain criteria.
The criteria are obtained from the results of the calculation of motivation
questionnaires given at the end of learning. Skala Guttman (Sugiyono, 2010) was
used in this study to determine the percentage of results that is with the provision
that if the "yes" will get a score of 1 while if answering "no" then it will not get a
score. The game is said to be feasible to apply to students if the percentage of
results from the motivational questionnaire. This questionnaire is also supported by
tests of student learning results given through pretest and posttest. The game is said
to be successful if the student's posttest results > 61% ≥ 75.

Results and Discussion

The use of learning media in students is considered quite effective for the
delivery of materials. Because in fact learning while playing is an activity that is
often done by children, so learning-based games can be used to support the student
learning process (Sari, Saputro, & Hastuti, 2014) . "One Dice Chemistry Quiz" can
be used as one of the students' learning support, where it is a game in the form of
quizzes with certain rules. The results of the data filling out a motivational
questionnaire amounting to 22 items obtained from national journals are contained
in table 1 (Arum & Lutfi, 2012).
Table 1 Student Motivation Questionnaire Results

6. 18
7. 20
8. 21
9. 20
10. 19

12. 18

How to calculate the data obtained is to use the formula below and will
produce a percent form. The formula is
𝑗𝑢𝑚𝑙𝑎ℎ 𝑠𝑘𝑜𝑟 𝑡𝑜𝑡𝑎𝑙
𝑃% = × 100%
𝑠𝑘𝑜𝑟 𝑚𝑎𝑘𝑠𝑖𝑚𝑎𝑙
Table 2 Percentages of Questionnaire Results
STUDENT TOTAL PERCENTAGE

1 18 81,81%
2 22 100%
3 21 95,45%
4 22 100%
5 19 86,36%
6 18 95,45%

9 20 90,90%
10 19 86,36%
11 21 95,45 %
12 18 81,81%

From the results of calculations obtained showed that the percentage of

student motivation results all. Then it can be concluded that the "One Dice
Chemistry Quiz" deserves to be applied in the learning process of teaching acid-
base materials to students. Students also show that they are motivated by the
existence of this game. The statement is supported by research from> 61% Innafa
Respati (Ningrum & Lutfi, 2019) that the benefits of learning tools are to make
students more motivated and make students have an impressive experience as
learning progresses.

5
Motivated students in the process of learning acid bases using the "One Dice
Chemistry Quiz" can be proven in table 2. Therefore, it can be proven that learning
tools can increase curiosity in students (ATTENTION), can make students find
their goals (RELEVANCE), and students can become confident to achieve that goal
(CONFIDENCE), then the problem has been achieved, then students will feel proud
of themselves (SATISFACTION).
Motivational questionnaires are also supported by student test results in the
form of pretest and posttest. Student test results are contained in table 3
(Kurniawati, Enawati, & Masriani, 2020)
Table 3 Student Test Results
STUDENT PRETEST POSTTEST
1 16 91
2 16 75
3 16 83
4 0 75
5 16 75
6 0 75
7 8 91
8 16 75
9 58 75
10 0 75
11 8 91
12 33 75

From table 3 it was found that all students failed in pretest due to getting
grades while the results on the posttest experienced a drastic increase that all
students succeeded with grades. Which means that after doing the game One Dice
Chemistry Quiz the students' learning results increased. One Dice Chemistry Quiz
game is able to improve the learning outcomes of students who previously failed in
pretest and then become successful after doing this game. ≤ 75 ≥ 75
The game is done in groups and experienced success. The theory presented
by Sunan and Hans (Isjoni, 2009) supports this statement, they mention that the
method of learning in groups can train students for teamwork and of course make
students easily accept the material provided.
According to (Ardianti, 2018) on acidic-base matter, many students have
difficulty understanding it. From learning tools, difficulties in learning chemistry
can be overcome (Lubis & Ikhsan, 2015). Researchers hope teachers can apply the

6
game media "One Dice Chemistry Quiz" to be able to improve the process of
understanding students on acid-base material. Because when students understand
the material delivered by the teacher, it can allow students to easily master the
purpose of teaching.

Conclusion
From the results of the analysis came the conclusion that the learning media
in the form of one dice chemistry quiz game is one of the games that can be used.
It can all be proven from the results of motivational questionnaires, where students
get grades and supported by success in the posttest that students get > 61%. ≥
75grades. Which means that the game One Dice Chemistry Quiz deserves to be
applied so that students' understanding of acid-base material can increase. Thus, the
author gives advice to teachers to make the best use of learning tools, one of which
is to use the game One Dice Chemistry Quiz.
