I. OBJECTIVES
At the end of the lesson, students should be able to:
Explore the cultural context of China
Identify the different musical instruments from China;
Differentiate the uses of vocal and instrumental music of China.

Okay class, our topic for today is about
“Music of China”.
One student will read:
Please read the What we should know The music of China has one of the most
ancient traditional and cultural music
practices that give great contributions and
influences to other Asian countries music.
The Chinese local traditions and regional
musical styles differ widely in history,
theory, aesthetics, instrumentation, practice
and philosophy. This is based on the
doctrines of some Chinese philosophers like
Confucius.

Narrative Music ad Chinese Fold Music. It
includes dance pieces with lively melodies
and rhythms on lyrical and occasionally erotic
songs.

While Chinese musical instruments have


eight categories according to the material
used bamboo, wood, silk, gourd, stone, metal,
skin, or clay. The percussion instruments
were given significance for the color of their
sounds rather than for their sounds rather than
for their rhythmic importance indeed. The
instruments can be played solo, ensemble or
large orchestra in court. Here are the
classification of Chinese musical instruments
