Activity ACTIVITY 1 (BEHAVIORISM)
1. Observation
a. Choose a place where you can observe adult-child interactions –
such as mall, in church, parks or at the playground, etc. Spend one
hour observing such adult-child interactions. Focus your attention on
the stimulus – response – consequence patter you observe.
b. Describe the consequences you observe. (It is better to write or
scribble the details on the spot or as soon as you finish your
observation).

Analysis Activity 1: BBEHAVIORISM

Answer the questions.

1. What kind of stimuli for children’s and adult behavior did you
observe?
- Children who are a few months to 3 years old tends to copy their
parents or something they watched.

2. What kinds of behaviors on the part of children elicit reinforcement

and punishment consequences from the adult?
- As what I observe when parents want their child to behave they either
bring the ‘Pamalo” or they give something to help behave the child.
They either cry from the “Pamalo” or cry because they don’t want the
thing that their parents give in response.

3. What kind of behaviors of adults are reinforced or punished by the

children?
- Crying in public, disobedience, a back to back argument, silent
treatment and etc…

4. What kinds of reinforcement and punishments seem to be most

“successful”?
- “Pamalo” for me was an effective treatment. But now some parents
just give something to their children to avoid something important. For
example my cousin wants attention, her mother is busy talking or taking
care of some business, the mother played a video in her Ipad and gave it
my cousin, it work my cousin did not bother her mother anymore,
though now my cousin is in elementary level she struggles at school and
just wants play with her gadgets rather than studying.

5. Given this experience, what are your thoughts about operant

conditioning? Do you think children reinforce and punish adults
reinforce and punish them? How might the two be interdependent?
- Operant conditioning for me is helpful, but we should use it the right
way. We should not tolerate a child by giving a reward in everything
he/she do instead we should not tell them that you will give something if
they achieve something or what not and we should not punish them
because of what they did wrong instead we should guide them and teach
them the right way. Adults seems to be punish when we argue, avoid,
and do something bad to them, they feel like they raise you the wrong
way.

Activity 3: WORKING ON A MAZE

1. How did you solve maze A.? What strategy did you use? (trial and
error, examined the maze before proceeding with your pen etc.
- I tracked the entry point to the exit point by observing which route to
follow.

2. Was it easier to solve maze B? Why?

- Yes, because it was the same as the maze A, but the exit and entrance
were swap.

Activity 5: WORD PUZZLE/GARDEN OF HERBS

Reflection Questions;

1. As a student, what factor influence learning

- The puzzle and the questions given.

2. What are the negative implications of technology to intellectual and

social development of young children?
- Technology isolates children from other children. Instead of playing
outside with other kids they play with their gadgets and if a child is use
with playing with their gadgets they cry if you take them away. It also
affects their motivation in learning. We should not let technology
devour our youths and children. As much as possible try and avoid
using gadgets as a babysitter. Always give time in teaching and playing
with your children.
