Living in a country where you have to speak foreign language can cause serious social problems, as well

as practical problems. To what extent do you agree or disagree with this statement? ( 250 words)

ANSWER

Nowadays, many people prefer to living in foreign countries, especially for the people in developing
countries like Myanmar, for many reasons including higher educational and living standards. Although It
seems like these people can have a better lifestyle in general views, they have to face a lot of difficulties
both mentally and physically. One of the main concerns of this is language barrier which could leads to
both social and practical problems. That’s why I completely agree with given statement.

We all know that parents in non-English speaking countries tend to encourage their children to put more
effort in English so that they can have a comfortable lifestyle when they are in other countries. As a
student, if we don’t have at least intermediate level in respective language, we can forget about
understanding the lecture of related studies. Moreover, we can’t fit in the social circle because we don’t
know how to communicate with other people. Most importantly, we can’t relate to their culture and
tradition which means we always have to stay away from the natives. Therefore, Having general
knowledge of the particular customs and tradition also plays the critical role in communication. For
instance, in UAE countries where Islamic culture strictly dominates, you have to observe and comply
with its rules for sure.

If we decided to immigrate in foreign countries, we would have to work, of course. People who cannot
comprehend their verbal communication can only get tiring jobs such as in factory where you don’t have
to speak at all, just standing and working the whole time. If they are not fortunate enough, they even
have to face scam or cheating. It is quite challenging and complicated although the experience can train
you to be more independent.

To sum up, residing in a foreign country has never been a easy task especially for the country where
your native language doesn’t have any impact. Since this kind of problem is related with individually, the
only thing we can so to tackle this problem is that to learn their language and have the general ideas of
their cultural laws and behavior, otherwise we have to deal a lot.
