RHYTHMIC ACTIVITIES

Rhythmic Activity
 Rhytmic Activities are physical movements combined with beats, song, or other music.
 Rhythmic Activities are whatever sets up specific arrangement patterns like dancing certain steps
or singing a particular pitch. This is normally utilized for stimulation exercises.

THERE ARE FIVE PHASES OF RHYTHMIC ACTIVITIES


1. Aerobics- A kind of exercises that merges rhythmic aerobic exercise and strength training exercise.
It also the fundamental of dancing.
2. Break dancing- an athletic style of dance.
3. Gymnastics- a sport that needs balance, strength, flexibility, agility, coordination and endurance in
order to execute.
4. Bending- a movement around a joint.
5. Stretching- muscles or tendons are flexed.
HISTORY OF RHYTHMIC ACTIVITY
Rhythmic Activities have been taking place for thousand of years. Rhythmic activities trace back to the
olympics, with sports such as gymnastic that combined movement with the use of rhythm. This
created a form of physical expression with strength and ability.
Now rhythmic activities commonly extend to physical games with elements of song and dance. Some
current examples include jump rope games, popular dance workouts, like Zumba, or even the use of
noisemakers.

RHYTHM
-Originated from the greek word rythmos meaning any regular recurring motion or symmetry.
What is rhythm
- It refers to a movement denoted by one synchronized series of elements that are strong and weak
or of contrasting or different conditions.
- It is a sequence in time that is repeated and featured in dance.

Elements of Rhythm
1. Rhythm- Originated from the greek word rhythmos meaning any regular recurring motion or
symmetry.
2. Measure- it refers to the identical grouping on underlying beats
3. Rhythmic Pattern – it is a difinite groupings of sounds or beats related to the underlying beat.
4. Underlying Beat – it is a steady continuous sound that is held or felt throughout any rhythmical
sequence.
5. Phrasing- it is an emphasis placed on a particular note.
6. Accent- it is a group of measures that gives a feeling of unity.
