Syllabus
This workshop runs for 4 full days. Students should anticipate consistent start and end
times for each day. Early departure on any day is not recommended.

Module 1: Preparing for and Avoiding Disasters. Qualify


what constitutes an outage of Active Directory; identify
ways to prevent AD disasters; know what data should be
collected in advance; and identify what information to
communicate to business units.

Module 2: Core Disaster Recovery Scenarios. Explore six


core disaster scenarios, ranging from “Loss of Critical
Services” to “Loss of Entire Forest Functionality”.

Module 3: SYSVOL Scenarios. Investigate SYSVOL data


failures, FRS component failures, and GPO disasters.

Module 4: Disasters Avoided Through Good


Operational Practices. Adjust operational practices to
avoid disasters associated with massive clock adjustments,
USN rollback, and lingering objects.

Module 5: Security Related Scenarios. Focus on


prevention, including: Physical DC compromise, hacked
DCs, and sidHistory elevation.

Module 6: Relevant Changes In Future Releases. Review


disaster recovery-related changes in Microsoft®
Windows® Server 2008.
