1.0 SCOPE
The purpose of this method is to describe the measures and ways of proper
installation of gypsum board partition. Works shall be carried out in compliance
with the drawings, project specifications and materials.

2.0 REFERENCES

 DM Code of construction safety practice

 Provision of local order no. (3) of 1991on construction activities Regulations, in
the Emirates of Dubai.
 Drawings

3.0 RESPONSIBILITIES

1. The Project Manager is overall responsible for the implementation of method

statement and ensures that his team of Engineers, surveyor and foreman are
aware of this method statement and all resources – human, material and
equipment’s are available to carry out the work as planned and without any delay.
The Project Engineer is responsible to carry out the work as per the approved
shop drawings, method statements, contract spec. and documents. Ensure job
sequence is done properly and within quality standards.
2. Construction Manager is responsible to plan the schedule of as-built surveys,
identify non-conforming i.e. out of tolerance structures and issue the report.
3. Project Engineer is responsible to ensure that all Safety precautions are in place,
and that all personal on site are using the required Personal Protective
Equipment’s like – Helmet, Gloves, Shoes, and Coveralls.
4. Coordinate with the Site Engineer and make sure sufficient manpower and
equipment are available for job execution.

5.0 METHOD & SEQUENCE OF WORK

1. Gypsum board once reached at site it shall be checked by the QA/QC/Project

Engineer to ensure that the size requirements are as per the approved
sample/mock-up.
2. Gypsum boards are not to be placed under the direct sunlight or placed in
uncovered area. Cordoned off the area where the gypsum boards are placed to
avoid any moving vehicle/equipment that can cause the damage. Ensure that
gypsum boards are away from impounding water that may cause stain or wet and
impair its quality. 
3. Bundle of gypsum board shall be placed on wooden palette/batten for better
handling via Telehandler to job site. Banksman will assist the shifting in order to
avoid drop off such material due to improper machinery maneuvering/shifting.
4. Scaffolding whenever required would be fixed by competent scaffolding erector
and shall be inspected with safety inspector prior to usage.
5. Prior to work ensure that MEP clearance (if necessary) is signed off by
the responsible MEP personnel. 
6. Flooring and ceiling structure shall be smooth and free from any concrete debris.

7. The locations of channel runners shall be marked on floor and underside of

structure as per approved shop drawings. 
8. The metal channel runners shall be fixed on floors and underside of structure
using 32mm screws with fishers located 50mm from each end and spaced at
600mm centres. 
9. After floor and ceiling runner channels are in place, vertical studs shall be cut to
size and secured between the channel runners by steel screws. 
10. Provide 10mm clearance between top of studs and channel runners. 
11. The distance between vertical studs shall be maintained 60cm centres. 
12. Double studs shall be provided at corners.
13. A Reinforce vertical studs with 600mm long horizontal reinforcing channel at
1200mm centres. 
14. 12.5mm thick single layer of regular Gypsum Board shall be screwed to studs by
using 25mm screws spaced at 300mm from one face. 
15. All openings in gypsum board shall be cut with saw leaving square edges. 
16. MEP services to be provided within the wall shall be installed as per approved
relevant shop drawings. 
17. Gypsum Board shall be screwed to vertical studs from other face. 
18. Joints between panels to be taped and reinforced with fibre mesh and  covered
with joint compound. 
19. Stagger all end joints and the joints between panels to achieve a  maximum of
bridging and a minimum of continued joints. Joints shall be staggered on opposite
sides of partitions. 
20. Build door frames into stud framing, using anchors furnished with frames. 
21. Control joints shall be installed using metal trim where partition run exceeds
6000mm. 
22. Double studs shall be provided one on each side of control joints. 
23.  Inspection Request to be submitted for checking and approval of the Engineer.
24. Noise levels will be restricted at reasonable times, as acceptable to the Engineer.
25. All rubbish, dirt and residues will be removed from the facilities in a manner that
minimizes the noise and spread of dust.
26. All waste products will be disposed of by licensed waste carrier.

All site personnel are briefed on emergency procedures and arrangements within their
safety induction. The daily attendance of all labor present at site will be taken. This is to
ensure that an accurate picture of who is present on site is always maintained and in
case of emergency all site based personal can be quickly accounted for.

emergency procedures.

 Designate first aid and provide medical supplies and other material and
equipment that may be required for emergency use.
 Determine emergency evacuation routes for work areas and construction site and
designate safe assembly areas.
 Ensure that all site personnel & visitors clearly understand emergency warning
siren signals used at site and the safe assembly areas.
 Designate a supervisor to conduct a head count and give instructions to evacuees
as necessary.
 Post emergency information for each work area on the site.

9.0 WELFARE FACILITIES

 Toilet and washing facilities shall be provided before the commencement of work
and shall maintain as per DM standard.

 Food shall only be consumed in designated properly shaded areas agreed with
the prior approval.
 No food shall be consumed within the work areas
 All food wastes shall remove immediately, in a hygienic manner, and shall not be
allowed to accumulate.
 Drinking water (cool water in summer) will be made available at site all time.
 Resting area should be provided near the work area with adequate seating
arrangements and ventilation facility.

10.0 SANITATION AND HYGIENE MEASURES

In order to provide adequate sanitary conditions for all personnel at site, the following
provisions as part of the temporary facilities to be provided.

 Garbage disposal and regular collection.

 Sanitizing materials will be made available at the site.
