1. Explain what do you understand by the term ‘probability’. How is the concept of
probability is relevant to decision making under uncertainty?
2. Explain the concept of conditional probability with the help of a suitable
example.
3. What are different approaches to the definition of probability?
4. With the help of an example explain the meaning of the following:
i. An Experiment
ii. Events
iii. Exhaustive Event or Sample space
iv. Equally-Likely Events
v. Mutually Exclusive Events
vi. Complementary Events
vii. Independent Events
viii. Dependent Events

5. Find the probability of getting a head in a tossing of a coin.


6. What is the probability of getting a Queen in a draw from a pack of cards?
7. From a bag containing 7 red and 5 black balls. A ball is drawn at random. What
is the probability that it is a red ball?
8. Find the probability of getting a numbered card when a card is drawn from the
pack of 52 cards
9. What is the probability of getting a sum of 7 when two dice are thrown?
10. There are 5 green 7 red balls. Two balls are selected one by one without
replacement. Find the probability that first is green and second is red.
11. One card is drawn at random from the pack of 52 cards.
(i) Find the Probability that it is an honor card.
(ii) It is a face card.
