Method Statement - Manifold Structures

The document outlines the process for installing new manifold structures at two locations. Key steps include acquiring additional land for access, excavating access routes, installing piles using a barge-mounted rig, lifting prefabricated structure sections into place using two 90-ton cranes mounted on a barge, connecting piping and instrumentation, and completing field welds and coatings. An engineered access plan and lift calculations are required. The sequence involves laying new pipeline, installing piles, lifting structure sections, connecting piping and risers, and backfilling.

1.0 INTRODUCTION

New manifold structures are to be installed at Nembe-III and Nembe-1 locations.

Due to the limited lift capacity (50 tons) of the shallow draft marsh crane barge
spread, the structures are to be fabricated and transported to Work Site as
sectionalized units that require field erection. The structure installation crane spread
is also the pipeline tie-in to structure spread.

2.0 BASIC INSTALLATION METHODOLOGY

All equipment associated with the overall structure installation and subsequent
pipeline riser tie-ins require flotation access to the Work Site. Additional temporary
ROW acquisition is required to facilitate the total “slot” access excavation.

The new replacement 12” and 24” trunkline pipe segments for tie-in to the structures
must be installed in the marsh ditch sections prior to the installation of any piling at
the respective locations.

The structure piling will be installed as a separate activity performed by the Piling
Sub-Contractor (Dorig). The pile rig and associated equipment is barge mounted
and requires flotation access to install all piling.

Piling anodes will be installed by the Piling Sub-Contractor after piles are driven to
final penetration.

The top side steel structure will be fabricated in two (2) major sections with other
appendage inclusions subject to weight limit as mentioned above. The calculated
and actual weight of each component section must not exceed (50) tons. Piping
spools and other fittings will be installed as separate lifts after the main structure
frame is set in place, correctly aligned and ready for welding to the pre-installed
piles.

Blasting and painting of all steel materials will be completed as much as practical in
the onshore fabrication facility prior to shipment to marsh Work Site. Basically, only
the field weld areas will be left uncoated.

All lift rigging (slings and shackles) shall be properly certified (Load Test &
Manufacturer’s Certificates) and identifiable (Color Coded & stamped with unique
markings) to comply with Project Safety Specification for lifting operations. Rigging &
equipment Certificates will be available on site during the construction period.

All cranes utilized on the lifting operations have valid Inspection & Load Test
Certificates, and Permits for Operation.

The crane spread consists of two (2) American Model 998 Crane (90 ton capacity)
mounted on one spud barge (40m x 12m x 2.5m). Each major structure section will
be a dual lift by the cranes from the cargo transport barge positioned alongside the
crane lift side of the spud barge. Rotation of the lift will not be possible.

The structure lift from the cargo barge will be performed clear of the piling; cargo
barge will be removed; spud barge will be repositioned along side the piling with load
suspended clear of the piling (minimum 1.0m vertical height); “spot” alignment of the
structure stabbing guides and the piling will be performed by slewing, swinging and
boom movement of both cranes. Upon correct alignment, the cranes will lower the
structure into final position.

Correct alignment of all stabbing guides with the piling will be confirmed prior to
disconnection of the crane lift rigging.

A repeat of the above sequence of activities is repeated to install the second major
segment of the structure installation. Upon completion of the second segment
installation, the “gap” between the structure segments is to be fitted and welding in
place. Concurrent with this activity, the top side piping spools, fittings, instruments,
etc. are to be installed. All field welds have been identified on the Final AFC Shop
Fabrication & Installation Drawings.

The top side platform security framework cannot be installed until all pipeline risers
(new) are tied into the associated manifold piping. This activity will be performed and
may commence concurrently with the welding out of top side piping tie-ins.

Upon completion of the pipeline riser tie-ins, the security framework is to be fitted
and welded out.

Upon completion of the welding activities, the field welds and paint “touch up” areas
are to be grit blasted and coated according to the required coating Specification.
