THE 8 BASIC BUILDING BLOCKS
BBB 1. THE DREAM
Some call it purpose, or dream or vision or mission or ultimate goal, etc. What is your purpose in life? What impact do you want to be remembered for in the next 20 years and when you’re gone? You must clearly define and accept your dream! Most people have thrown away their dreams/purpose in life because most people are limited by the challenges of life—so they settle for less.
The point of this first and fundamental basic building block is that Network Marketing should ONLY be a VEHICLE for achieving your dream /purpose in life. But if you don’t have the dream in the first place, then you may get stuck. WITHOUT KNOWING CLEARLY WHAT YOUR DREAM/PURPOSE IN LIFE, THE REMAINING BASIC BUILDING BLOCKS ARE USELESS (AND NOT EFFECTIVE). Like they say, the person without a dream is not better than a dead man! For example your dream could be…
>>”A dream home—a model home or a model family” or >>”To make the greatest impact in education that will transform the country” or >>”To make the greatest impact in ministry and advance God’s Kingdom in my generation” or >> “To be the most influential person and have the record of helping as many people as possible succeed in my generation in Africa!” etc. Write it down today. This is the way to “Begin With The End In Mind”!
Important Principles about the Dream: 1. Never talk about dreams you are not willing to write down (because what you write down and keep, you have high possibility to never forget). 2. Break them down into Long term, Medium term and Short term goals: How many years will it take you to achieve financial freedom? What will be your net-worth at the end of the first year? How much must come in per month? Etc. Finally, one of the greatest networkers in the world once said: “If the DREAM is BIG enough, the FACTS won’t count”.
BBB 2. COMMITMENT
Commitment simply means “MAKING A DECISION AND STICKING TO IT NO MATTER WHAT”. Commitment is about “CONSISTENCY”. Network Marketing is not a job or about being self-employed. Network Marketing is a Business and you must treat it EXACTLY like one. Even a conventional business needs your commitment to survive. There is a very important quote in the business world that says “Commitment is the backbone of any successful business”. Never forget this! Of course, Network Marketing has the ability to practically make you financially free . Will this happen overnight? Absolutely not! Can it happen? Definitely!
The problem is most people have been told Networking allows for “Flexible Hours— Do it whenever you like, feel free like a bird”. This is true to an extent but it still requires commitment. So ask and write down, “How many hours are you willing to give to this business? ” Can you commit 7 Days a week, 17 hours per day OR 5 days a week 6 hours per day? If you are doing Network Marketing part time, we recommend 3 or 4 days a week! This gives you the opportunity to tell your downlines: “You see, this business is a flexible-hour business. It’s your own business but as your upline, it’s my duty to maximize your commitment in the business and it’s all about time management”.
Commitment in Avenues to Wealth can imply: i. Attending National events/conferences ii. Getting trained and growing with the Business (Practice Presentations and Learn from upline’s presentations) iii. Listening to CDs and DVDs consistently iv. Getting your downlines and prospects to the company’s training events v. Attending leadership camps…for personal growth! NOTE: Attending trainings are more effective than reading books or just listening to the CDs and DVDs. You can allow people to start at their own level of commitment but keep pushing. We have a great statement in A2W: “If you want to make money in our business, sell the values inside the company’s product. If you want to make a lot of money, sell the Privilege Pack by signing up new people. But if you want to make tons of money, always promote the company’s events!”
BBB 3. THE NAME LIST This process of writing them down name list is on its own very powerful. The golden rule of the name list is "EVERYBODY AND ANYBODY SHOULD BE IN IT—NEVER PREJUDGE.” Everyone and anyone should be in your list because Network Marketing is designed for everybody and anybody! If you don’t have a name list, your chances of succeeding in this business is very low. Write down both names and contact (i.e. phone numbers, emails, PIN numbers, etc.). It is proven that an average normal human being have a circle of influence of not less than 200 people. So as a Golden Rule, your name list must be at least 150 NAMES! This is the Golden Rule 1 (from the “Rule 3” Training): Rule 1: Write down a minimum of 150 names When writing down names, don’t decide for the people you’re putting down their names. Just put them down first! You also MUST sit with your new downline and let him/her go through and write down his/her 150 name list as well. You should even help him “jog his memories” by asking him/her some questions that can bring some people’s names to his/her mind. Your downline will naturally do it to his downline. So… i. Never Prejudge ii. Put everyone and anyone in your name list iii. Divide the whole list into THREE categories (Hot list, Warm list, and Cold list) iv. Make your downline present his/her name list to you in less than 5 days (so this can continue downline) As a rule, you must UPDATE your list by 10% every month. This is what we call “Rule 2” in the “Rule 3” Training... Rule 2: Update your list by 10% every month
BBB 4. THE ART OF INVITATION AND PROSPECTING Invitation: This simply means INVITATION (not talking about stories). Invitation can be divided into two: 1. Professional invitation and 2. Not-professional kind of invitation. * Non-professional: "Hello, come over right now..." You do this to your hot list (family members, relatives and friends that are very close to you). * Profession: "Hello, let's meet over tea, there's something very important I want to talk with you about." This Invitation requires good posture. “I found this business opportunity, 100% e-commerce and I thought of sharing this with someone and your name came to my mind, can you come over so I can give you the whole idea” If the person asks, “Can you tell me a little bit about it?” You may say, “The opportunity opens me up to have exclusive rights of customers both locally and internationally and I want to share the whole concept to you and see whether we could work together.” Or “I presently do a global international e-commerce business, I want you to see whether we can work together on this”.
Don’t send bulk SMS. Let it be personal and relevant to each person you call or send a text message to. Don’t be desperate . Maintain your posture every time you invite people. If the person won’t be able to come for prospect meeting you’re inviting him for, simply collect his contact (and add it to your name list). Keep your invitation short and simple. Prospecting: Your name list must increase by 10% every day. Prospecting means you go out there and get their details on your name list. Prospecting is what makes you a NETWORKER. And networking is basically the only thing you do in this industry fulltime! Networking means talking to/with humans! The number 1 rule of a NETWORKER is: When you interact with society, YOU MUST COME BACK WITH CONTACTS (names, phone numbers, emails, etc.) Everyone you meet, everyone you come in contact with, could potentially be a powerful networker in your network. Every time you interact with society and you do not get name contacts, you are potentially loosing on an opportunity to sign up a potentially great networker in the world.
BBB 5. SHOWING THE PLAN (PRESENTATION) Public presentations are very effective—once or twice a month. However, the core of our business is the one-on- one presentation. A Presentation must contain four things: i. Company's profile [A2W: a million dollar company, Backed up by high class credible people like Prof. Pat Utomi, Dolf DeRoos, Chris Tomsin, etc. A2W is an e-commerce based business. The leading Network Marketing Company in Nigeria. It has made many people financially free in less than 3 years in Nigeria, etc.] ii. The Product [Privilege Pack: Best value proposition on the planet, Amazing Lifestyle enhancement, buying almost anything you want at a cheaper price. Investment opportunity. Access to Real Estate Investment. Dream vacation opportunity. Ridiculously cheap health services, Free advertising opportunity, Profit sharing opportunity, etc.] iii. Compensation/Reward Plan [Binary Model: Rewards in dollars, Pays every Monday mornings, at least 4 different kinds of rewards, favors the strong, supports the weak and doesn’t cut you off at any point, etc.] iv. Future Projections [A2W is a global international company. It provides an ultimate e-commerce platform. E-commerce is the wave of the future. A2W will be growing to 1million distributors rich in 2012. And plans to grow to 20million in 10 years and up to 100million in 20years. A2W conveniently satisfy the 3 criteria by Harvard. A2W is going to be a world-wide phenomenon].
Use a piece of paper and a pen for your presentation. Why? Because, using a piece of paper can easily be DUPLICATED DOWNLINE. Dress, walk, think and talk like a millionaire! The Golden Rule called “Rule 3” Rule 3: Minimum of 15 Presentations Every Month CONSISTENTLY Presentations should be 45mins max ! People come into the business partly because of the product and majorly because of the opportunity. Maintain your posture ALWAYS! Other things you must know is i. Your first 5 presentations should be done with your upline. Let your upline show the plan while you observe and nod very well to what he’s saying. You can use the CUG for this as well. Your upline here, might not be your direct upline. ii. Edify your upline. This is extremely very important! Talk about your upline with respect. Edification is always about business and not about personality. Edify your upline because it’s good for your business. The more you edify your upline, the more effective they become to your downlines, and the better it is for your business. iii. Tell prospect to suspend the questions until the end. Most of your prospect’s questions will be answered in the course of the presentation. iv. Choose the right environment. Calm and cool environment. v. Make it simple. Use a pen and a paper if possible. This is because it is easily duplicable downline. vi. Dress with common sense. Your appearance matters. Build your brand. Have a card in the company’s name. vii. Always maintain your posture. The prospect(s) need you more than you need them. viii. Use public presentations and/or home meetings. This is very effective because of the power of association generated when members come together.
BBB 6. FOLLOW THROUGH! Without Follow Through, Showing the Plan becomes useless. The importance of Follow Through is seen in playing golf—without following through with the golf stick, the ball will not go far. Follow through must be done within 24 and 48 hours especially when they’ve not signed up; If you don’t people forget or “switch off”. The Follow Through is to handle objections. People always have more questions after seeing the plan (usually because they must have talked to other people who are not networkers. Note that if the person comes up for your Follow Through, it means they are “open”! If they give you objections, remember the 3 F’s of handling objections The 3 F’s: Feel, Felt, Found With most complains, you can answer with the 3 F’s: “... I know how you feel...That was also how I felt at first...but guess what I found out…” And always maintain your posture when saying it. Never lose your posture. So… i. Follow Through within 48 hour ii. Pick up the phone, call to set up a meeting. iii. Handle objections with the 3 F’s: Feel, Felt, Found. iv. If they say no, maintain your posture. v. If they still say no, walk away with pride (because they need you more) vi. Never allow them to walk away as if they’ve won!
BBB 7. COUNSEL UPLINE Strategize with your upline. If you do not do this, you’ll have many difficulties and will not move fast. Motivation must be presented to downlines. Challenges must be presented to upline. As a rule, before you do anything in Network Marketing, counsel with your upline; otherwise you might be doing the wrong thing or doing it very ineffectively! The upline you work with might not necessary be your direct upline. If your upline is not effective enough, go higher until you find someone who have succeeded with results and ready to take you through the path. In fact, your upline overtime will almost look like your brother/sister. Golden Rule here: Bad new must only be presented uplines, Good news must only be presented downline
BBB 8. DUPLICATE! The key aspect of Network Marketing is Duplication. Notice, all the basic building blocks can easily be duplicated. To easily duplicate, identify your core leaders and engage with them. Your core leaders are your powers (“Power of 2”, “Power of 3”, “Power of 4” and so on). Your aim is to reproduce yourself in these people as fast as possible so that they can do the same to their own people as fast as possible. The things that maintains and ensures this duplication: i. Your systems ii. Your monthly presentations iii. Basic training programs iv. Leadership and national programs v. The CDs and DVDs The ability to teach and duplicate yourself is the most valuable asset to a networker; because DUPLICATION/TEACHING, simplifies your life ! This business helps you to help people to succeed!
