Lesson Plan Example

This lesson plan is for a mathematics class about 3D shapes. The teacher will divide students into groups and have them classify 3D shapes using task sheets. The teacher will then read a story about shapes to reinforce concepts. Students will identify shape parts by matching word cards to manila cards with shapes. Finally, students will complete another task sheet to assess their understanding of 3D shape features. The lesson aims to help students describe and classify common 3D shapes.

Goal:
Learning Outcomes (From CS) : Pupils will be able to:
(i) Describe features of 3D shapes
(ii)Build 3D shapes using suitable materials
Objectives:(i) Pupils will be able to determine and recognize the differences between each 3D shapes
(ii) Pupils will be able to build 3D shapes
Pre-requisite knowledge: Pupils have been taught on vertices, edges, and faces

Prior knowledge: Pupils have understood and use the vocabulary related to 3-D shapes.

each group. E.g. cube, cuboid, cylinder, prism, pyramid. 5) Pyramid
4) Teacher distributes a task sheet together with a set of 3D
shapes to each of the pupil (refer to Appendix 1 & 2).
Teacher makes sure that each pupil receives both task sheet
and a set of 3D shapes.
5) Teacher gives a bottle of glue to each group.
6) Teacher explains about what the pupils need to do with
the task sheet and the set of 3D shapes.
7) Teacher asks whether the pupils are already clear with the
instruction or not. If not, the teacher will explain the
instruction once again and perhaps the teacher could
demonstrate 1 example from the task sheet.
8) Teacher reminds the pupils that cleanliness is very
important. So, the pupils should use the glue properly.
9) Teacher tells all the groups that one
representative from the group needs to collect all their
group mates’ task sheets and pass to the teacher once each
member of their group have finish their task sheet.
10) Teacher allocates 3-5 minutes for the pupils to complete
the task sheet.
