AIX Roles, Activities played as part of Roles:

 User, Patch and Security Management, Problem determination.


 Using maintenance method to fix booting related issues, running fsck on rootvg file
systems, repairing jfs or jfs2 log devices, running bosboot, root password recovery etc.,
 Scheduling and Monitoring and Backup and Restoration of data on pSeries machines.
 Handling booting related issues, Installing OS on LPAR using NIM, server restore
using mksysb image.
 Creating new logical volumes, creating file systems, working with file system changes
such as changing mount point, changing file system size (increase or decrease).
 Taking server backups such as mksysb, savevg and other file or directory level backup
using backup utility.
 Audit system monitoring and system Recoverability.
 Error Analysis using errpt, checking server for any hard and soft errors and fixing
related errors with IBM support Engineer. Running snap utility to gather server
information.
 Stable APAR management on AIX/ operating system.
 Coordinating with other team members (database and SAP team ) and work closing
with them if any changes performing in the machine.
 Management of Health checking issues and actions.
 Patching servers – installing TLs on the server, installing any customer requested
software and any third party tools on the server.
 Troubleshooting hardware and operating system problems.
 Configuring NIM Master, creating NIM resources for network installation on clients.
Configuring NIM clients, configuring SMS menu with NIM Master details to network
with and trouble shooting any NIM related issues.

 Alternate disk installation for reducing the down time.
 Configuring two node cluster, configuring HACMP Networks, Heart beats, Working
resource groups, Creating new resources and bringing them to cluster control,
configuring starting and stopping scripting in HACMP application group, creating
shared volume groups and performing different operations on that.
 Working with system dump facilities, configuring and taking system dump.
 Troubleshooting HACMP related issues, going through different log files and
understanding these logs and fixing problems.
 LPAR operations including: scheduling operations, troubleshooting activation errors,
configuring and using system profiles, and activating and shutting down partitions,
Power on/off partitions.
 Create partitions, partition profiles, and system profiles, Activate partitions, and
Schedule operations for partitions, dynamic operations for adding, moving, and
removing memory, processor resources, and I/O slots.
 Working with dedicated and shared processors, virtual processors, processing unit, and
allocation of processing power from the shared processor pool etc.,
 Configuring new managed machines on HMC, creating LPAR, DLPAR machines,
Allocating resources, moving resource dynamically.
