Stage 32 Test 2018

Salvius and some friends were meeting at a sacred shrine in the forest outside Rome. As priests appointed by the emperor, they wanted to perform a sacrifice at dawn. They discussed choosing a victim. It was necessary to protect the emperor, who was surrounded by enemies. The next day, a white cow was being led into Rome as the victim. Suddenly, a girl ran into the road and was severely injured by the cow's hoof without seeing it. Her sister begged for the girl's life. When Salvius arrived and learned what happened, he stabbed the girl, explaining she had offended the gods. It was necessary for her to die. He then left with the cow and servants, leaving the stunned crowd.

I. Reading Comprehension
Imperator a hoc sacrificio
custodietur.” clamavit Salvius.
verbīs dictīs, postridie vacca alba, victima, per viās Romae a servīs ducebatur. subito res dira accidit: puella,
