I have the honor to submit an innovation proposal entitled “Zero Non-Readers Ating Targetin:
Ating mga Anak ating Pabasahin: Bahay at Paaralan ay pag-isahin” which cater to the need of Reading
literacy for pupils and basic literacy lessons for parents. Approval of this innovation would mean this
endeavor can be extended to the adjacent schools –Palanas Elementary School and Gumaos Elementary
School in Paracale including their respective communities.

2. Development Issues – The Problem to be address by the activity
a) Background/Context Reading is the most essential part of learning. We must give importance in
pupils reading ability during their primary level. This is the priority skill of
every learner. The parents and other home learning partner must be oriented
and trained through Marungko Approach on basic reading skill to be taught
properly to their learners at home.
b) Main Issue The reading ability of the pupils in primary level is not suited for their
grade level. Home learning partner don’t have enough knowledge on how
to teach basic reading skill using Marungko Approach to their children.
This is very important skills in their preparation for the next grade level.
Some pupils in Grade 1- III are not familiar with the basic reading skills.
c) Related Issues Most of the pupils in Grade I to III don’t have conducive reading area.
They also don’t have available reading materials and they can’t afford to
provide different reading materials.
3. Development Interventions – The proposed solution to be supported by the activity
a) Proposed Solution  Basic Reading Skills will be taught to the Home Learning Partner.
Every Home Learning Partner are required to attend the Summer
Tutorial on how to teach basic reading using Marungko Approach.
 Teachers will provide improvised teacher-made reading materials that
can catch attention and call their interest in reading
 This summer training for parents/ guardians/HLP’s will be implemented
through alternate schedules this summer vacation. Interactive
exploration approach using lecture – demonstration and mentoring and
coaching will facilitate effective learning to them.

Monitoring and evaluation of the progress of the innovation will be at


the middle of its implementation so that the adjustments, recommendations,

of the innovation to validate its effectiveness and veracity and if it will be
indeed be capable of being replicated to the nearby school and community.

b) Project Sustainability This project proposal will guarantee the continuity of the
implementation and completion of innovation until face-to-face classes is
not possible.
The K- III teachers will assure that all home learning partners can teach
basic reading through Marungko Approach to their learners.
The Grade II room is furnished with lighting and ventilation that is very
conducive to learning.
Ms. Theresa V. Nano, in-charge of documentation, will record all the
activities and proceedings of the innovation’s proposal including the best
practices it may have.

The possible best practices and how it will be replicated in other


schools with similar facilities will be:
a. Effective training of parents the basic reading skills using
Marungko Approach.
b. Available human resources in the community can be
requested/tapped for voluntary assistance/consultancy.
c. The Grade II classroom will be the training area during summer
vacation.
4. Activity Concept
a) Objective By the end of the First Quarter, 2022-2023, most of the struggling
reader of Grade 1- III should have acquired reading Basic Skills using
Marungko Approach through improvised teacher-made reading materials.
b) Outputs Specific results from the innovation activity will be documents of
parents mentoring the pupils and performance tasks conducted during
Home Visitation.
c) Outcomes The best outcome will be the solution to one of the Priority Improvement
Area for 2022-2023 which is the low number of reader in the primary level
as preparation for their higher grade level. Likewise, the parents will also
have better understanding and awareness of Marungko Approach that will
help them in the future, they can use the knowledge anytime when needed.
d) Activities The parents and other learning partner can teach their younger children
using the Marungko Approach as early as possible because they have the
knowledge already so the child can’t be left behind.
Pupils will have confidence when they enter the next grade level
The pupils and parents of Bagumbayan Elementary School, Brgy.
Bagumbayan, Paracale, Camarines Norte, even if in the remote area have
gained knowledge and experience that they can use any time until they are
existing because those learning can’t be steal from them.
5. Indicate Implementation Arrangement

B. Proposed Implementation methods will be interactive exploration approach using
Implementation Methods lecture-demonstration, mentoring and coaching to facilitate effective
learning for pupils and parents according to the given schedule/time frame.

Different activities during implementation will be carefully documented


for reporting, monitoring and evaluation purposes.

Interviews and focused group discussions will be conducted to obtain


feedback during Home Visitation

Feedback will be utilized to further improve the teaching-learning


process of Reading Skills to best benefit the clientele.
