opting for Structured and well-thought aesthetic architectural designs. Various themes and
designs, such as Mediterranean, European, and ethnic-Indian, are becoming popular nowadays
and require skilled architects. A professional can assist in fusing numerous decorative styles and
bringing them into reality. To comprehend the world of construction and architecture, I Jay Patel
would like to enhance my knowledge in Architectural Techniques under your guidance. I have
completed my Diploma in Civil Engineering. I would like to write a statement of purpose to carry
out my studies at a Post-Secondary Diploma level at Algonquin College, Canada.

Family Background
I live in Gandhinagar with my parents and an elder brother. My mother is a homemaker. My father
works as a contractor for construction sites. My initial upbringing inspired me to take up
construction as a profession. My brother has completed his Bachelor of Computer Engineering. I
am the first person from my family planning for foreign education, and my family members are
highly excited and supportive of this decision. It's the result of their financial, moral, and
emotional support that I see my dream of overseas education turning into a reality.

Academic Profile:

My initial schooling took place in Gujarat Secondary and Higher-Secondary Board. The seeds for a
learning attitude were sown in me during my formative years, by a superb familial upbringing as
well as focused academic nurturing at school. My life’s goals and career aspirations came into
focus when I observed my father working as a contractor for construction sites. I was inspired to
go ahead with the construction field, by observing my father working. I chose to take up the
Diploma in civil engineering at Government Polytechnic accredited under Gujarat Technological
University. I have learnt various subjects such as Design of steel structure, Design of reinforced
concrete structure, Construction technology, Basic engineering drawing, Building drawing,
Computer-aided drawing. During this period, I have also enhanced my skills in Different software.
Firstly, I learned the basics of Autodesk AutoCAD, Revit Structure & Architecture, Lumion 3D to
experience the dynamic field of civil and architecture. To expertise my academic skill in a
particular area of architectural Technology and understanding the ethics, I am fortunate enough to
get a chance to study post-secondary diploma at Algonquin College situated in Ottawa the heart of
Canada.
Professional Profile:
After my Diploma, I started an internship at AJAY Engi-Infrastructure Pvt. Ltd. for the construction
of a flyover bridge on Zundel along S. P. Ring Road in Ahmedabad Urban Development Authority
as a Civil Engineer during the span of 6 months. During this internship, I have learnt the basic
calculations and designing of the Bridge. Also, I was involved in many operations of construction.
After that, I started my job as a full-time employee at Maitri Designs private limited to nurture my
architecting skills and fundamentals. Here, I worked for 5 months from June 2021 to October 2021
as a Trainee Designer. I was trained under professionals and experts. I was involved in multiple
projects and successfully completed assigned tasks. I got appreciation from seniors for their
proficiency in my work. I realized my key skills are in architecting and designing the various
buildings, thus, I researched about the courses available.

culture, typology and how people are using different materials with advanced technology. I am
confident that I have that capability to contribute positively towards your esteemed college and

My recent work experience made me realize my potential and interest. But, there is still scope for
me to improve and grow as a professional in my field of interest. Over the years as I have grown in
terms of knowledge and exposure, I realized that I need to learn more advanced topics to grow,
not only economically but for my personal growth also. For doing so, I want to acquire knowledge
that can be the foundation for my career as a professional architect and a leader.
While surfing on Internet, I was looking for an institute that would provide me with a program
that focuses on strengthening the students' background in architecture. I strongly believe that I
will be able to do so with a Post-Secondary Diploma. Moreover, I strongly resonate with the core
values of Algonquin College which is, enabling people to make a better world through education,
scholarship, research, and engagement. The academic rigour, as well as meaningful and practical
experiences, will help me realize my full potential. With my focus on Architecting, I find the Post-
Secondary Diploma in Architectural Technician program at Algonquin College is ideal for me. I
have reviewed and understood the program coursework and look forward to being an active

Language Proficiency:

For international studies, English Language proficiency is a primary prerequisite. Thus, once I
made up my mind for learning accounting through overseas education, I prepared and
appeared for the language proficiency test IELTS. I scored an Overall 6 with no less than 6 in
any module.

Future Prospects and Plans:

After successful completion of my further studies, I intend to return to India with an outstanding
skillset of techniques of architecture earned in Canada. I want to contribute to India's
infrastructural development through the skills and professional attributes earned during foreign
education. Also, my main aim is to contribute to the projects which lead to sustainable
infrastructure. Aligning Architectural knowledge with managing construction projects will open
my doors of opportunities for me in my homeland.
Also, my entire family is in India and I have moral responsibilities to take care of my family. Even,
it is my responsibility that my Academic knowledge and skills can enhance my home country's

Financial Details and other visa-related information:

I have paid $18,300 CAD at Algonquin College as a one-year tuition fee. Additionally, I also
credited$10,150 CAD in my Canadian bank account in the form of GIC with CIBC to cover all
my living expenses. In addition, I have also attached my documents, including a paper of E-
medical check-up to show my fitness, all documents related to my academic achievements,
financial proofs and IELTS scorecard.
