Actions of Heat On:: Metals Oxides Metals Hydroxides Carbonates Nitrates

When heated, different compounds react in the following ways: 1. Metal oxides of stable metals like K and Na remain stable when heated. Metal hydroxides of Ca, Mg, Al, Zn decompose to metal oxides and water vapor. Carbonates produce metal oxides and carbon dioxide. 2. When metal nitrates are heated, they produce metal oxides or nitrites, nitrogen dioxide, and oxygen. 3. Metal hydroxides of Ca, Mg, Al decompose to metal oxides and water vapor when heated. Carbonates produce metal oxides and carbon dioxide.
