The Ro-Vac Mini is constructed as a tubular bag trolley in aluminium with two wheels and two
handles. The frame is resting on two runners, when left in horizontal position, and can be carried
by two people.
The pump can be changed from suction through neutral into pressure by a handle on top of the
pump.
For further details see Vacuum Pump Instruction Manual, which lie in parallel to this manual.
The pump is V-belt driven, from a diesel engine and is equipped with a siphon in order to prevent
accidental suction of any liquids direct into the vacuum pump.
3.1 Hopper
The hopper is made from aluminium and is suitable for a standard vacuum head, which also fits
standard barrels. The hopper is designed as a funnel at the bottom. At the bottom of the funnel is
fitted a 2” ball valve with a 2” male Kamlok coupling, allowing suction of liquids by the pump unit. At
the top of the funnel is placed a basket of stainless steel mesh, which separates bigger items
which cannot be pumped.
On top of the vacuum head is placed a vacuum meter, a spring loaded standard vacuum relief
valve and a second vacuum relief valve, which is released by a float inside the hopper. This last
valve is meant to release the vacuum in case the pump is not removing the recovered medium as
fast as it enters the hopper. That simply prevents the hopper from overfilling.
The vacuum unit and pump unit have to be placed at level ground next to the hopper.
Connect the vacuum unit to the vacuum head by means of the 5 m suction hose which has a 2”
female coupling at one end.
Connect the (4 x 10 m) hoses with a 2” male coupling to the other coupling on the vacuum head and,
if available, the suction lance.
The pump unit, if available, has to be connected to the bottom of the hopper. For the outlet from the
pump use a lay flat hose to discharge collected medium.
The vacuum pump can now be started after checking oils on vacuum pump and engine. It is
advisable not to run the pump unit dry for a long time.
Suction of medium can take place as long as the release float on the vacuum head is not activated.
Therefore in order to avoid the float to be activated, the ball valve on the hopper should be opened
and the pump unit started.
