How to weigh pros and cons before making decision?

First, I write the decision  at the top of a sheet of paper. Next,

divide it in half vertically, and label one side "Pros" and the
other "Cons." Then, list all of the possible positive
consequences of the decision in the pros column, and all the
negative effects in the cons column.
Example: If I want to choose IAS as a career option
I will list out the prons and cons one column means as
Prons
1.it is the top most government job.
2.Highest salary
3.Good fame and respect in society.
4.Helpings to poor people by our own.
Cons
1.Huge syllabus
2.Lot of burden
3.It takes long time to crack
4.Need to face lot of challeges in administration
Based on these advantages and disadvantages and also
analyzing my strength and weekness and my financial condition
I will make a decision on whether choosing IAS as a career
option.
