2. Factors that are considered when deciding whether transfers can be approved include:
• program options not available in the home school
• medical circumstances of the student
• class sizes and total enrollment in the sending and receiving school
• student behaviour record combined with probability of success in a new
environment
• special family circumstances of the student.
3. Requests must be made in writing on the appropriate form to the principal of the current
school (form on reverse side). Upon support from the current school principal, parents/
guardians present their transfer request to the principal of the requested school.
4. Parents/guardians and/or students are to have opportunity for an interview with the prin-
cipals, if requested, when having their transfer request considered.
5. It is necessary to re-apply for a transfer each year once it has been approved. However,
approval is only necessary from the principal of the present school.
6. Approved transfers may be cancelled at any time by the receiving principal if students
demonstrate poor discipline, lack of effort or unacceptable attendance. Students would
be required to return to their community school.
9. If the transfer is not supported by the principal of either the sending or receiving school,
an appeal regarding the decision may be made to the Superintendent of Schools.
