PLEASE READ CAREFULLY AND SIGN BELOW I certify that the above information is true and correct to the best of my knowledge. I also acknowledge that
falsification of the above responses can result in the denied adoption of an animal to me or can result in the return to the Sumter SPCA of an adopted animal. I
understand and agree that the Sumter SPCA does not guarantee the health or temperament of the animal once it leaves the shelter. All dogs are required to be
spayed or neutered. I understand and agree to abide by the S.P.C.A. policy that states, “The S.P.C.A. reserves the right to refuse any adoption of any animal for any
reason deemed appropriate by the Sumter S.P.C.A.”
What is Included:
Adoptions include the first set of vaccinations and deworming for all animals regardless of age. The new owner would
then be responsible for all other future vaccination requirements including boosters, rabies vaccines and deworming.
If it is a puppy or a kitten under four months of age, a deadline date will be given for the spay or neuter at which time
you are required to take it to your own personal veterinarian and to have the surgery completed. For puppies and
kittens, we will give you a voucher towards the spay or neuter. The vouchers cover the following: Female dogs and cats
are a $30 voucher. A male dog is a $25 voucher and a male cat is a $20 voucher. You would then pay the remainder of
the vet bill.
Holding Policy:
Due to the large number of inquiries for our adoptable pets, anyone coming from out of town that would like us to hold
an animal until they arrive will be required to:
2. Pay a holding fee of $25 to be applied at any time during our open hours from 11:00 AM until 5:00 PM.
This fee is NON-REFUNDABLE and is NOT APPLIED TO THE CURRENT ADOPTION FEE. If you choose this option AND
have an approved application, the payment must be completed over the phone at the time you make the request to
hold. Once the payment is made, there is NO REFUND WHETHER YOU CHOOSE TO ADOPT OR NOT. The animal will
then be held until you arrive before the end of that working day. If you fail to arrive by the end of the day, the animal
will again be put up for adoption. We DO NOT hold animals overnight.
I have read and understand the adoption process and holding policy for
adoption at the Sumter SPCA:
