Detailed Lesson Plan Science 6

The document contains a detailed lesson plan for a Grade 6 science class on the planets of the solar system. The objectives are for students to be able to identify and arrange the planets, and describe some of them. The content standards relate to the characteristics of planets, and the performance standards involve an emergency preparedness plan. The lesson resources listed include textbooks, additional materials from a portal, and visual aids. The teacher's activities include an opening prayer, review of a previous lesson on Earth's rotation and revolution through a question game, and a story told by Dora the Explorer to motivate and introduce the new topic about the planets and Halley's Comet.

understand our lesson and actively
participate in our class discussion.
Lord gives our teacher the wisdom so
that they may share their knowledge unto
us and teach us the right things. Amen
Good morning class!

who hold the box will answer the question. Is it
clear class?
Yes, teacher.
Now let’s start our activity.
(The students will answer the following
(The teacher will play the music) question.

1. What is Earth rotation?

2. What is Earth revolution?
3. What causes day and night?
4. How many days do the earth
revolves around the sun?
All of your answer is correct! 5. How many hours do the Earth
Let us give them a wow clap! rotates on its axis?

Is there any question regarding Earth Rotation

and revolution?
None sir.
I am glad you really understood our past lesson.

and Halley’s. Comet.
All orbits were far from each other. Each planets never
banged each other.
The planet that collected most amount of light without leaving
his orbit would be the winner of the game. All planets loved
the idea and decided to play it every day.

One day all planets noticed a beautiful objects with a shiny tail
comes towards the orbit assigned to one of the planets.

Amazed by the beauty of this object a planet went close to ask

“Who might you be?

The beautiful object replied “ Iam a comet and I known to

everyone as the Halley’s comet” I came here to play the game
capture the light with all of you.”

Would you please let me join you?

Meanwhile, Some of the planets started discussing, “ What if

the comet cheats!”

Why is this tailed object coming our part of the Milky Way
Galaxy?

Why can’t this comet go play with her own family. The comet
doesn’t have an orbit, she might bang with us, and hurt us!”

One of the planets interrupted and said “ let’s assigned this

comet a new orbit that over laps our orbits.”

All planets have to make sure that they don’t bang with the
Comet while trying to capture the light.

Yes, the game will be more challenging and it will be fun to

have a new friend join our game.” Said another planet. After
all discussion, all planets finally agreed to let the comit play
with them.

Jupiter came forth and drew a new orbit around the sun for the
Halley’s comit to start playing the game. He explained the
rules of the game capture the light to the halley’s comet.
Everyone went back on their position to start the game. While
travelling on the orbit assigned to the comit, she made a very
good friends with all the planets. Starting with the planet that
is closest to the sun, the comet met,
Mercury- the smallest planets of the solar family

Venus- the hottest planet

Then the comet met; Earth which is only planet that has life.
Mars- the red planet. Jupiter- the biggest of all planet. The
comet was introduced to; Saturn the planet with the beautiful
rings. Uranus the lazy one and always lying down. Neptune,
which is the coolest planet of all

After playing the game for many days, it was time for the
comet to go back home. She thanked everyone for allowing
her to play the game of Capture the light. Even today, the
comet visits solar family every once in a while to play the fun
game of capture the light.

Who are my friends?

Carmela?
MVEM JSUN Siblings and Halley Comet
Maam.
Very good!
Who is the father of MVEM JSUN Siblings?

Sun Ma’am.
Very good!
Who knows MVEM JSUN means?
Mercury, Venus, Earth, Mars, Jupites,
Saturn, Urinus,Neptune Maam.

What we heard from the story has something to do
with our lesson for today.

D. PRESENTATION

Look here is my magic a box.

Is there anything inside it?
No maa’m.

Maam, those are words.

Yes, these are words
Out of these words we can form a group of word
with this pattern

Who wants to work it on the board? I, Maam.

Yes. Laica, Jessica and Princess.

The Planets of the Solar System
What group of words do they formed class?
The Planets of the Solar System

What is it again?

Today, we will learn about The Planets of the

Solar System.

Now class I have here a video clip.

Today, I will be your tour friend. I am here to

guide you and lead you to the world of Science.
We’ll going to explore and we’ll get to know the Yes, teacher

Are you ready to explore?

So, fasten your seatbelt, open your mind, eyes and

ears to capture and focus, to learn and enjoy our

E.DISCUSSION

Let’s see if you really understand the video

presentation, we will have a game.

Children, my little Dora will go around while she
goes around. Let us chant with the music. Once Yes Maam.

I have here an envelope filled with questions you
must pick one. Start your answer using the phrase I believe that we have 8 planets in the solar

Is that clear to everyone?

1. How many planets do we have in the solar

system? I believe that we have Mercury, Venus,
Earth, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, and Uranus
Neptune in the solar System.

Very good!

2. What are the planets in the Solar system? I believe the Jupiter is largest planets

is to identify the pictures and describe it in the
front of the class using this phrase “The _______ (Pupil’s will do)
is the (1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th, 6th, 7th, 8th.) Planets from

Well said! Can I expect that from you?

Now class let’s have an activity.

I will divide the class into 4 groups. Kindly look
and get the picture under your arm chair. That will
be your group name.

For the Earth group please stay there in station 1.

All Saturn group please stay here in station 2.
All Venus group please occupy that area in station
3.
Jupiter group please stay there in station 4.

You’ll be given 2 minutes in every station and 1

minutes for your presentation. You will present Discipline 30%
the group’s output in creative way. Cooperation 30 %
Output 40%
G-1 Earth group TOTAL 100%
G-2 Saturn group
G- 3 Venus group
G- 4 Jupiter group Yes, Maam.
Here’s the rubric on how I am going to grade your
presentation.

This activity is for all groups

Am I clear? Station 1; Identify and write the name of

the given planets.
Look for your group mates who have the same
picture as yours and go to your respective station.
Station 2; Arrange the planets orderly.
Station 3; Cut out the planet word and
glue them in the correct order.
Station 4; Describe and compare the
characteristics of Venus and Neptune

Yes, Maam.
Are you done class? (Pupil’s will present their work)
Present your work in creative way.

Let’s check your works.
