Module 3.2 Sexual Self

1. After reading the article on SEXUAL RESPONSE CYCLE, list down 2 insightful points that
you can draw out from it.
Upon reading the article about the sexual response cycle of people, it came to
my mind that it is really nature to people to experience sexual admiration. Although
with this, it is still on us on how we will manage to control our sexual desires. On a
similar context, base on the article that was provided, sexual response cycle technically
describes all the changes that happen or occur in the person’s body as people become
sexually aroused. Another thing, different phases of sexual response got me interested
on the topic since it explains vividly how our body reacts in terms of sexual intercourse.
Just a question, since article only states about the sexual response cycle of men and
women, how then it will go the sexual response if the two persons involve is in the same
sex? Will the arousal still be the same? Or there are some changes about it?

2. Based on your opinion and the 2 videos presented to you, what is your belief about a
person’s sexual orientation?
Sexual orientation is sometimes about a person’s choice or what their body tells
them. It is more on the idea that sexual orientation is a spectrum of attraction. It is
something for us to keep in mind that someone's sexual orientation and romantic
orientation can be different and that is totally cool and normal. There is no room for
judgment about it. I believe that it is now our time to spread awareness on the gender
spectrum and the LGBTQIA+ community even just a little is already making a big
difference on opening up people's worlds. I believe this needs to be taught more other
than just the binary homosexual and heterosexual or man and woman stance that
Philippines' media have spread throughout the years.
3. What is Love? Lust? Attachment? Which do you think would be something worthwhile
to pursue in life?
On my personal perspective, love, attachment, and lust are interconnected with
each other. Lust is about sexual desire of the person. It is normal to a person who are in
love to feel the needs of lust. But eventually, even a single person can experience it. Lust
is just a temptation for a person. On the other hand, love should always have an
attachment. It is where compatibility applies for, I do believe that in order for our love
to prosper, it should have it. Another thing, love should always be greater than a
person’s lust. We should not let lust to be the center of our feelings to our other half. To
answer the question on what something is to be worthwhile to pursue in life, it will
always be love, but lust and attachment should still be applicable to it.

4. What do you think we should do to prevent early pregnancy and STD?

I firmly believe that in order for us to prevent early pregnancy and STD is to
educate people. Every one of us should do our part by providing the necessary
information about preventing pregnancies and STD. another thing, we should also
encourage people to make responsible choices when having sex. About the early
pregnancies, both men and women should be well-informed about the circumstances
that they are dealing with once they engage into that situation. Therefore, the main
responsibility of us, adults is to provide necessary information for teens and other
people with a thorough understanding of about contraceptive techniques, abstinence,
and the consequences of sexual activity.
