Definition of Project Duration
2018 CMGP
Project Duration is the total time that it takes to complete a
project that is usually expressed in terms of working time
units (hours, days, weeks, months and years). The duration
depends on the availability and capacity of the resources.
Computation of Project Duration
Calendar Days = [(given reference amount x reference duration per km. of road) ÷
2018 CMGP
estimated amount per km. of road ] + [duration of mob./demob. on the given reference
amount]
Derivation of Project Duration
Sample Derivation of Duration based on DPWH DO No. 44 s. 2012
Using Paved (Concrete) to Paved (Concrete) at P20M Project Cost
2018 CMGP
Calendar Days = [(given reference amount x reference duration per km. of road) ÷
estimated amount per km. of road ] + [duration of mob./demob. on the given reference
amount]
Calendar Days = [(given reference amount x reference duration per km. of road) ÷
estimated amount per km. of road ] + [duration of mob./demob. on the given reference
amount]
Duration Reduction Factor is applied due to infusion of additional resources as the scope
of work becomes bigger.
Calendar Days = [(given reference amount x reference duration per km. of road) ÷
estimated amount per km. of road X Duration Reduction Factor ] + [duration of
mob./demob. on the given reference amount]
Derivation of Project Duration
Sample Derivation of Duration incorporating Duration Reduction Factor in
the formula shown in DPWH DO No. 44 s. 2012

Using Paved (Concrete) to Paved (Concrete) at P20M Project Cost
Calendar Days = [(given reference amount x reference duration per km. of road) ÷
estimated amount per km. of road X Duration Reduction Factor ] + [duration of
mob./demob. on the given reference amount]
Scheduling
2018 CMGP
PERT-CPM
2018 CMGP
Is a project management tool used to schedule, organize, and
coordinate tasks within a project. It is basically a method to
analyze the tasks involved in completing a given project, especially
the time needed to complete each task, and to identify the
minimum time needed to complete the total project.
The critical path method (CPM) of scheduling is the most common
format used worldwide in the construction industry.
