16 Fanuc Input and Output Link 2

The document discusses the configuration of FANUC I/O link connections using different types of I/O modules. It describes how a FANUC CNC controller acts as the master device connected via I/O modules to slave devices. Two specific I/O module types are examined: the operator's panel I/O module and power magnetic cabinet I/O module. It provides details on their pin assignments for digital inputs and outputs and how addresses are allocated in the PLC ladder program to interface with these I/O modules in the FANUC I/O link.

TYPES OF FANUC I/O MODULE

• There are different types of I/O module used in FANUC I/O link.

• Which I/O module has to be used is depends on your machine’s number of inputs,
outputs, requirement.

• In this video, you will learn list of different types of I/O modules used in FANUC I/O
link

• Understand how to use, wire, I/O mapping of I/O module in FANUC I/O link.
Following list will show you different types of I/O modules used in
FANUC I/O link

• Panel I/O module

• Operator’s panel I/O module
• Operator’s panel I/O module and power magnetic cabinet I/O module
• I/O module type-2 for connector panel
• I/O unit for 0i
• Standard machine operator’s panel
• Small machine operator’s panel
•Terminal type I/O module
• Connection of I/O link-As-I converter.
In this video we will learn,

+24VDC supply to operator’s panel I/O unit

• Supply +24VDC to connector

and for DI operation

• You can take out +24VDC for

• DI (Data Inputs) = 48 points (X address)

• DI (Data Outputs) = 32 points (Y address)

• MPG interface is supported

• Do not connect +24VDC to pins CE56
(B01) and CE57 (B01).

• Supply +24VDC to CE56 (A24), CE56

(B24), CE56 (A25), CE56 (B25).

• Supply +24VDC to CE57 (A24), CE57

(B24), CE57 (A25), CE57 (B25).

• Supply 0V to CE56(A01), CE57(A01)

Address allocation for Operator’s panel I/O module
to use it in PLC ladder program
Explanation
• This operator’s panel I/O module having
48 input points and 32 output points.
• In first group,
DI (16 Bytes = X0 to X15) are allocated
• In second group,
DI (4 Bytes = Y0 to Y3) are allocated
• MPG interface occupies X12 to X14, do
not use these X addresses in ladder
program, the CNC processes MPG
counter value direct.
• DI address X15 is used for detecting over
current and overheating alarm that occur
in the IC used in the DO driver
• I/O addresses can be freely assignable in Operator’ I/O module.

• Whenever you allocating DI (X addresses)addresses, also consider the fixed

addresses that are directly supervised by the CNC and keep the following table
while assigning inputs.
For this reason, we assign starting input address (X address) for operator panel’s I/O
module is X4. We set this in PLC ladder program.
And remaining next number is
assigned serially for second I/O unit
that is power magnetic cabinet
I/O module.
