Proprietary and Confidential Information of Amdocs
1 INTRODUCTION

1.1 Purpose
Amdocs OSS requires third party products to support its deployment. As part of the Amdocs
product release program, Amdocs validates its products against specific versions of the third
party software.
This document describes all of the third party software products on which the Amdocs OSS
has been validated. No additional third party software is required other than that described in
this document.

1.2 Audience
This document is provided to customers and partners to enable them to choose a
combination of hardware and software platform that meets their business requirements.

1.3 How to read this document

The majority of Amdocs OSS products are supported on a common set of server platforms
defined in Section ‎2. Not all products are supported on all platforms and detailed
compatibility for each product is defined in Section ‎3.
The Amdocs OSS User Interface and other supporting components are supported on a set of
client platforms and these are described in detail in Section ‎4.

1.4 Bespoke platforms

Where a required platform has not been certified by Amdocs, a request can be submitted
through Amdocs Support to be handled as an enhancement request. A charge is normally
made for validating and supporting Amdocs OSS on a non-standard platform.

Information Security Level 1 – Confidential 1

2 SERVER PLATFORM OVERVIEW

2.1 Overview
Amdocs OSS is certified on different “server stacks”. A server stack defines the full server
configuration including all platform software.
This section defines the server platform stacks upon which the majority of products within the
Amdocs OSS are supported.
Note that all products are not supported on all 4 server stacks. Please refer to Section
‎3 for details of the compatibility of each product with your chosen platform.

2.2 High availability deployment options

The Amdocs OSS supports a range of High Availability deployment options, meeting all
customer requirements from cold standby to geographically dispersed disaster recovery.
Details of the options can be found in the Amdocs OSS 8.0 Deployment Options document.
All products should be assumed to support High Availability deployment (where applicable)
unless a particular combination of product and platform are marked as „Not HA‟ in the
Detailed Server Compatibility tables in Section ‎3.

2.3 Support for minor version updates

The Amdocs OSS is validated on specific platform versions. Unless specified otherwise
customers may choose to use a different version provided it is only the minor version or
„service pack‟ number that differs. For example, although WebSphere 7.0.0.7 is the formally
validated version, customers may choose to use 7.0.0.8. Use of 7.1.0.0 is not approved or
supported by Amdocs because of the second-digit version change.
If a problem is found to exist with a specific minor version, Amdocs reserves the right to
withdraw support for the version and it may be necessary for customers to upgrade or
downgrade to a working version.
*Extension: Support of minor version update statement is applicable also to Oracle
11.2.0.1.1 plus patch 9165206 for following OSS products: Resource Management, Planning,
and Discovery. Service Management products will not offer this Oracle 11.2 limited support
as a result of deep dependencies on Amdocs cross portfolio products.

2.4 Platform combinations

It is permitted to mix the operating system and hardware configurations of the database and
application server tiers between the server stacks. For example Oracle 11.1.0.7 on Red Hat
Enterprise Linux can be used together with the WebLogic Application Server on Solaris.

2.5 64 bit JVM

Unless otherwise specified a 64 bit JVM implementation is required in order to provide the
application with access to all available memory of the hardware platform. Where a 64-bit
JVM is not available on a particular platform, it may be necessary to cluster multiple
application server instances on the same machine in order to provide the application with
sufficient memory to meet the stability and performance targets.

2.6 Virtual machine environments

Amdocs OSS is not formally validated to run in a virtual machine environment (for example
VMWare), however, providing the following constraints are satisfied, deployments upon a
virtual machine environment will be supported.
1. The guest operating system of the virtual machine environment must conform to one
of the supported server stacks defined in Section ‎2.
2. The use of the virtual machine environment must be transparent to the Amdocs OSS.
In other words when running in a virtual machine environment the software must
behave identically to the same software when run in a non-virtual environment.

4 Information Security Level 1 – Confidential

Proprietary and Confidential Information of Amdocs
Chapter ‎2. SERVER PLATFORM OVERVIEW

3. Any problems that are believed to arise from a difference in behaviour between the
virtual and non-virtual environments must be reported and handled by the vendor of
the virtual machine software.
In particular, Amdocs Support may require a problem that they believe is caused by the use
of a virtual machine environment to be reproduced upon a non-virtual environment before
accepting the problem as a Support case.

2.7 Dependencies on Amdocs Cross Portfolio

Amdocs OSS products, except Service Management products and Activation Manager, use
following software from Amdocs cross portfolio:
1. Foundations 8.1.
Service Management dependencies are specified in Section ‎3.2
Activation Manager dependencies are specified in Section ‎3.5

3.2 Service Management products

This section defines the detailed platform compatibility for Service Management products.
Note that the installation of Unified Service Manager requires access to a desktop PC.
Please refer to Section ‎4.3 for details of the software that must be available on the PC to
successfully complete the installation.
Note also that the Service Management products other than Unified Service Manager require
a 32-bit JVM.
Because of dependencies on Amdocs cross portfolio product, which is not available on 8.1
platform matrix, Service Management products use a platform matrix based on OSS 8.0, with
Amdocs foundations 8.0, and CRM 8.0. Below is the platform matrix for Service Management,
and products availability on these stacks.

5 LDAP SERVER COMPATIBILITY

5.1 Overview
In OSS 7.5 and prior releases of the Amdocs OSS an LDAP server was required to
store user account details, including authentication information and user
preferences. Starting with the Amdocs OSS 8 release the use of an LDAP server
is no longer required because authentication and authorization information is
managed within Amdocs Security Manager and user preferences are stored within
the Oracle database by default.
Customers who are upgrading to Amdocs OSS 8 from previous releases may
continue to use their existing LDAP integration. Please see Section ‎6 for details of
the End of Support policy.
The following list of LDAP servers have been validated for use with Amdocs OSS 8
and can be used interchangeably with the server stacks defined in Table 1.

Component Software Version

LDAP IBM Tivoli Directory Server version 6.2
Microsoft Windows Server 2008 R2 Active Directory
Oracle 11g Release 1 (11.1.1.1.0) Internet Directory
Table 25: Compatible LDAP servers
It is also possible for a customer to use an LDAP server other than those listed in Table 25
provided it implements the standard LDAP protocol. If a problem occurs that is believed to be
due to the use of an LDAP server that is not listed in Table 25, support will be provided on a
“best efforts” basis. It may be necessary to reproduce the problem using one of the supported
LDAP servers before the problem is accepted as a Support case.

6 END OF SUPPORT

6.1 Overview
This section defines the end of support schedule for OSS suite platforms. For details of the
end of support schedule for individual products please contact Amdocs Support.

6.2 Oracle 10g AS

As announced previously, Oracle Application Server is no longer supported in this release of
the Amdocs OSS.

6.3 Direct LDAP integration

The direct integration of Amdocs OSS with an LDAP server, for the purposes of user identity
management, will no longer be supported in the next major release following Amdocs OSS 8.
It will still be possible to store identity information in an LDAP server, however, in Amdocs
