Projections of Planes
1. An equilateral triangular lamina of 30mm sides rests on one of its edges on
HP such that the surface of the lamina is inclined at 60 0 to HP and the edge on
which its rests is inclined at 60 0 to VP. Draw its FV and TV.
2. A rectangular plate of sides 30mm x 40mm rests on HP on one of its shorter
edge such that the plate is inclined to HP at 30 0 and edge on which it rests is
inclined to VP at 45 0. Draw TV & FV when the edge on which it rests is,
a. Nearer to the observer
b. Nearer to VP
3. A pentagonal lamina is resting on the HP on one of its corners with the sides
containing that corner equally inclined to HP and the lamina is inclined at 30 0
to the HP. The side opposite to the corner on which it is resting on the HP is
inclined at 400 to the VP. Draw the projections. Take side of lamina as 40mm.
4. A hexagonal lamina of sides 40mm rests on HP on one its edges such that its
surface is inclined to HP at 380 and the edge on which it rests is inclined to VP at
480. Draw TV, FV and LSV.
5. A hexagonal lamina of side 50mm is placed in HP such that the surface is
inclined at 45 0 to HP and the two parallel sides are parallel to both HP and
VP. Draw TV and FV.
6. A rhombus of diagonals 100mm and 60mm long has one of its corners in HP
such that the diagonal passing through the corner at which it rests is inclined
to HP at 300. Draw TV & FV when,
a. Diagonal passing through the corner on which it rests is inclined to VP
at 450.
b. Diagonal passing through the corner on which it rests appears to be
inclined to VP at 45 0.
c. Top view of the diagonal passing through the corner on which it is
resting makes an angle of 45 0 with the VP
d. The diagonal at right angles to the diagonal passing through the point
on which it rests is 45 0 to the VP.
7. A circular plate of 60mm diameter is resting on one of its points on its rim on
HP and is inclined to HP at 45 0. The diameter at right angles to the diameter
passing through the point on which it rests is parallel to VP. Draw TV and FV.
8. A square plate of 40mm sides rests on the corner on the HP with one of the
diagonals inclined at 30 0 to the HP and 45 0 to the VP. Draw its projections.
9. ABC is an equilateral triangle plate of 40mm sides. It is resting on its edge BC
on HP and this makes an angle of 45 0 with VP. The two edges AB & AC
measures 30mm in TV. Determine the surface inclination and draw its FV.
10. A Circular lamina of radius 30 mm rests on HP on its rim such that its surface is
inclined to HP at 300 and the diameter passing through the point on which it rests
is inclined to VP at 480. Draw its projections.
11. A circular lamina of 50mm diameter appears as an ellipse of minor axis 30mm
in the TV. Determine the surface inclination with HP and draw the FV w hen
the major axis is parallel to both the plane.
12. A pentagonal lamina of sides 50 mm initially stands on HP on one of its edges such
that its surface is inclined to HP at 350 and is perpendicular to VP. The corner
opposite the edge on which it rests is 25 mm above HP. Then it is placed such that
the edge on which it stands is parallel to both HP and VP. Draw TV, FV and LSV.
13. A regular hexagonal lamina of 40mm side has a corner in the HP. Its surface is
inclined at 45 0 to the HP and the top view of the diagonal passing through the
corner on which it is resting makes an angle of 60 0 with the VP. Draw its
projections.
14. A triangular plate of sides 30 mm has one its sides in VP and is inclined to HP at
450. The surface of the lamina is inclined to VP at 60 0. Draw its projections.
15. A rectangular plate of 50mm x 75mm is resting on one of its shorter edge in
VP & lamina is tilted till it appears as a square of 50mm x 50mm in FV. Draw
the projections when the edge on which it is tilted being parallel to both HP
and VP. Also determine the surface inclination.
16. A hexagonal lamina of 30mm sides is resting on the VP on one of its side and
the lamina is inclined at 60 0 to the VP. The side resting on the VP is inclined at
450 to the HP. Draw the projections.
17. A thin 300 - 600 set square with its longest side measuring 40mm is in the VP
and inclined at 30 0 to the HP. Its surface makes an angle of 45 0 with the VP.

18. A square lamina ABCD of 60mm sides has a slot of 25mm sides cut at its centre
such that the sides of the slots are parallel to the diagonals of the lamina. The
lamina rests on VP on its side AB and the surface of the lamina is inclined at
300 to VP. Draw the projections when the side on which it rests makes an angle
of 450 to HP.
19. A composite plate consists of a square ABCD of sides 40mm having AB vertical
with a semicircle constructed CD as diameter. The surface of the plate makes
an angle of 60 0 to VP and side AB is at 30 0 to HP. Draw the projection of the
composite plate.
20. A pentagonal lamina of sides 35mm rests on one of its corners on both VP and
HP. The lamina makes an angle of 450 to VP. Draw its projections.
21. A square lamina of sides 40 mm has an edge both in HP and VP. Draw the
projections when the surface is inclined at 350 VP.
22. A pentagonal lamina of sides 35mm has one of its corners in VP and opposite
edge in HP. The lamina makes an angle of 400 to VP. Draw its projections.
