Online games have become popular due to advances in technology and internet access. Many people, especially teens, enjoy online games for fun and social interaction. However, some players can become addicted by playing frequently for long periods of time and neglecting other responsibilities. Addiction to online games can negatively impact physical and mental health by causing malnutrition, poor eyesight, depression, and relationship problems. While online games in moderation can provide benefits like stress relief, preventing addiction requires setting limits on time spent playing and choosing alternative activities. Building healthy relationships offline is important to protect against online game addiction.

ONLINE GAMES

Development in technology brings many things that people don't have many years back. One of these
things is online games that is provided by the internet. Online games refer to games that are played over
some form of computer network, most often the internet. Online games are designed for the other used of
the internet and to make it more enjoyable. For me as an individual, I’m curious about why do other
people treat it like they can’t imagine their life without these online games even if they don’t know the
effects of it on their health and how it can be prevented.

Nowadays, many people are addicted to these online games. People who are playing these online
games said that they are playing these games just for fun, to keep away from the heat of the sun. Most
teens feel a sense of power and achievement when they play online games. They considered it as bonding
with their family, friends, relatives and neighbors. Some players are just influenced by the people around
them. At first, they just played it when they get bored and to enjoy their vacant time. And then, they do it
more frequently and longer until they get used to it. As a result, they become addicted to online games.

Being addicted to online games have different effects in an individual. Playing online games,
according to some research is beneficial. It enables the mind of the players to be more active. It helps the
player to come up with decisions in tight situations. Online games can also improve brain speed, social
skill and it improves giving attention and concentration in what you are doing. Some of online gamers
find true friends in game and some of them learn English. These are good effects of online games. At the
same time, there are also bad effects. Malnutrition and poor eyesight can be the negative effects of it.
When they are busy playing, they forgot to eat regularly and properly. Not eating regularly and properly
can cause sickness. What makes it worse is that they get obsessed with these trend that it evolves into a
harmful vice which pushes them until they reach the point of neglecting school and cutting classes just to
go to those stations and play. In addition, it can also cause relationship failures and divorce due to their
online game addiction. A gamer can also suffer from depression by thinking of the real world and virtual
world didn’t match and they feel mixed about it. The gamer can often have suicidal thoughts with the
blurred line between the real and the virtual world.

However, when online games are played in moderation and with mindfulness, they are a viable
source of stress relief and recreation. And there are also ways to prevent addiction such as set a limit on
the duration and time that you can spend on online games, choose to pursue other activities, such as
outdoor sports, reading books, or spending time with friends and family, instead of playing online games.
The best way to protect yourself from being addicted to online games is to build a healthy relationship
with your family and inculcate values and practices that you can apply both online and offline.
Remember, do not start playing online games if you know you cannot manage getting addicted to. For
those who have already started it, do manage your time and always know the signs of Online Games
addiction. Select your decisions wisely.

Always think of the consequences before it’s too late.
