What Is It
Facial Make-up Requirements
There are different requirements in facial make-up depending on the
occasion and time of the day. Below are some of them:

1. Ordinary or Daytime make-up- Simple, light and looks natural. The

shade should match the color of your dress.
2. Evening make-up or heavy make-up- Uses darker shades and gives
glamorous effect.
3. Commercial or photographic make-up- Enhances the beauty and hides
the bad features of the face. This is to make the face more glowing but
looks natural in the picture.

3
4. Stage theatrical make-up- Creates a believable appearance of the
character that actor’s portray during stage production.
5. Wedding make-up- Similar to photographic make-up with glowing but
looks natural in the picture.

Safety Practices in Make-up Application

 Finger nails should be cut short when giving facial make-up.
 Handle client gently and carefully.
 Use protective clothing both for the operator and the patron.
 Always clean the face before applying make-up.
 Maintain cleanliness in your working area.
 Sanitize all the tools to be used especially the brushes and sponges.

Ten (10) Minute Skin Care

Once you have developed your daily skin care routine it should only take a
few minutes every morning and night. Be sure that the products you use
are suitable for the skin type.
1. Always remove eye make-up before going to bed. Dampen a cotton
wool pad or ball with a remover and wipe over the eye area. Do this
gently and never pull or tug the skin around the eyes which is very
delicate. You may need to go over the lids and lashes a few times until
all traces of make-up are gone.
2. Cleanse your face thoroughly. If you suffer from spots or acne you
may use a complexion brush to unblock pores.
3. Tone your skin with the appropriate formulation then apply a light
film of moisturizer. Gently massage it in and tissue off any excess.
4. Moisturize your neck and throat towards the jaw, as the skin in these
areas can easily become dry. Work the throat towards the jaw.
5. Always pluck your brows from underneath the natural arch and in
the direction of the hair’s growth.
6. Apply special eye creams that reduce morning puffiness and swelling.
These are usually made from herb extracts.

Techniques of Contouring

Contouring is enhancing the structure of make-up through make-up. There

are different techniques of contouring for different shapes of face. The goal is
to attain an oval shape in the application of the foundation and blush on the
areas of the face that need to be emphasized and those that need to be
“hidden.”

4
Shape of the Face Contouring Techniques
1.Oval Apply blush under the ball of the cheekbone, directly
below the outer part of the iris. Extend in smooth arc,
fading towards the top of the ear.
2.Round Apply darker shade of the foundation on the forehead,
on the side of the jaw up to the tip of the ear. Apply
blush on the ball of the cheek.
3.Diamond Apply lighter shade of foundation on both sides of
forehead. Apply lighter shade of foundation at angle
from middle to bottom jawline.
4. Square/ Apply darker shade of foundation on either side of the
Rectangular forehead and jawline, blend to make appear more oval.
Apply blush on the ball of the cheek. Blend toward the
top of the ear for square face and middle of the ear for a
rectangular face.
5.Heart To soften the lower half of the face, apply lighter shade
of the foundation at either side of the jawline. Apply
darker shade of the foundation on either side of the
forehead. Apply blush starting under the ball of the
cheek. Blend away towards the middle of the ear.

lower part. Sponge with antiseptic.
8. Apply brow make-up by placing in the normal position.

from the center of the face outwards.

7
