the Americans saw an opportunity to assume control of the country.

The elites jumped at the chance to work with the Americans because they saw potential opportunities for their
economic and political interests. In reality, the elites began switching sides long before Aguinaldo was
apprehended. These elites founded the Asociacion de Paz in the early 1900s with the goal of assisting the
Americans in battling fellow Filipinos.

General Miguel Malvar took charge of the administration for a short time after Aguinaldo was captured.
Unfortunately, the victory of the United States was unavoidable. The defeat of Malvar did not put an end to
Filipino resistance; former Katipunero Macario Sakay created another government resistance to fight the
Americans.

The Malolos Republic was the culmination of the Philippine Revolution, which began with the Katipunan and culminated
with the adoption of the First Constitution and the establishment of Asia's first Republican Government. Because the
clamor for changes was not heeded, the masses were forced to resort to violence. The Partido Federal aspired to have
the Philippines annexed as one of the United States' states. The Filipino people believed that revolution was their only
option for gaining independence.The Americans required elite support in order to establish administrative control over
the country. As the United States giving government offices they did not notice the silent but continuing resistance of
the revolutionaries. General Miguel Malvar took charge of the administration for a short time after Aguinaldo was captured.
Unfortunately, the victory of the United States was unavoidable. The defeat of Malvar did not put an end to
Filipino resistance; former Katipunero Macario Sakay created another government resistance to fight the 6
Americans. Since the end of Philippine-American war is yet to see, there has been a widespread support of the
masses to the various resistance movements.
