Making comparisons

There are 3 types of comparison. we can compare things:


 
a) To a higher degree( comparative form + THAN and the MOST)
E.g. your bag is heavier than my bag.
b) To the same degree (as+adj+ as)
E.g. I am as tall as my mother.
c) To a lower degree (With LESS + THAN and the LEAST)
E.g. The film is less interesting than the book.
 
A. COMPARATIVE AND SUPERLATIVE FORMS OF ADJECTIVES
 
1. One -syllable adj (adj cu o singura silaba)
Adaugam terminatia -ER (comparativ) si -EST(superlativ) pentru
a forma gradul comparativ si superlativ al adj monosilabice
E.g. My brother is OLDER THAN me.-mai mare decat
E.g. My house is THE SMALLEST in the street.- cea mai mica
OBS. Adjectivele monosilabice care:
 Se termina cu o vocala urmata de o consoana , isi dubleaza
consoana la adugarea terminatiei -ER/-EST
E.g. fat- fatter -the fattest
E.g. big-bigger-the biggest
 Se termina in -E adugam -R sau -ST
E.g. late-later- the latest
E.g. nice- nicer - the nicest
OBS: Adjectivele care se termina in -Y , inlocuim -y cu -i la
adugarea terminatiei -ER /-EST
E.g. easy-easier-the easiest 
 
2. Two -syllable adjectives(adj formate din 2 silabe)
Se foloseste MORE+ THAN (comparativ) si THE
MOST(superlativ) inaintea adjectivului
E.g. Maths is MORE boring THAN biology.
E.g. That is the MOST modern building I have ever seen.
3. Three-syllable adjectives (adjective formate din 3 silabe)
Se foloseste MORE+ THAN (comparativ) si THE
MOST(superlativ) inaintea adjectivului.
E.g. The sofa is MORE comfortable THAN that old chair.
E.g. It is THE MOST expensive car I have ever bought.
