V. Lesson Development

A. Introduction

1/31/2022 (Review day)

The teacher will greet the students as they arrive to class. The teacher should have the students
load up the video document from the last classroom. If the class finished the assignment they
will then load up their CH 10 Assessment homework in order to review it.

2/1/2022 (Assessment Day)

The teacher will start the class by asking the students if they have any questions before the
quiz. If there are no questions the teacher will inform the students that after the quiz they will
have homework and they are expected to start it.

B. Lesson development (activities, procedures)

1/31/2022 (Review day)

● First, the teacher will have the students pull up their video handout from the last lesson if
they still need to complete it..
● Second, the teacher, after being satisfied with the completion from the last lesson video
handout. The teacher will then have the students take out their CH 10 Review
Assignment.
● Third, the students will review the answers with the teacher as an entire class.
● Fourth, the teacher after reviewing the assignment with the students will put the quizlet
live up on the smart board. .
● Fifth, the students will join the quizlet live link and code and will play review games until
the end of the period.
● Sixth, the students will have no homework but must leave understanding that they will
have a quiz tomorrow.

2/1/22 (Assessment)

take the assessment.
● Second, the teacher after making sure everyone is accounted for will open the
assessment for the students to take.
● Third, after the assessment, students will have an assignment to do a country portfolio.
(one of the 6 studied in this unit) (Bolivia, Chile, Argentina, Brazil, Uruguay, Paraguay).
● Fourth, the country portfolio will be turned in Wednesday morning at 8am.

C. Evidence of differentiated instruction (content, process, product, or

learning environment)

1/31

Process - The students will have the ability to review the quizlet either together in teams or
individually. If the students are behaved it will benefit them to work together with quizlet live.
Students with the review games will be able to read the questions and interact with the answers
on their tablets.

Learning environment - students are allowed to move around the classroom and work with other
students. If need be they can sit on the carpet in the corner or pull desks together.

2/1

Product - The students will have the ability to take the quiz in the class on their tablets. If
something were to arise and the student lets the teacher know that they need to take the quiz
on paper due to their tablet not being charged, they can take the quiz on a paper version.

Learning environment - the classroom is set up where students have their own individual desks.
This allows students to be focused on their own work. The students in order to take the test
must share their tablet so the teacher can use their own to monitor students. This is to make
sure that they are focused on their quiz.

D. Closure (summary)

In conclusion the teacher should make sure the students have no unanswered questions. By
the end of the unit the students will be able to identify key terms and places by completing an
Review Assessment. The students will also be able to implement the information they learn from
videos by adding them to an assessment. This will be evident with review activities on quizlet as
well as with the placement of questions on the quiz.

VI. Assessment/evaluation

By reviewing the assignment at the beginning of the review day the students will have more
time interacting with the material. The quiz is more like a hybrid. It features questions from the
outlines they have been doing. The quiz also features matching with .

VII. Modifications or accommodations

The students in 5b are for the most part on task and engaged with the classroom material. Very
little needs to be changed. With having gifted students, it is important to have extra assignments
in case they are working further ahead than the other students. In the case of using homework,
the teacher can allow the class to start the homework in class if students are working ahead.
The students in period 7, they might need more review time and might need more engagement.
This may require more time in general with the material. (time extension for the quiz). If
something were to arise and the student lets the teacher know that they need to take the quiz
on paper due to their tablet not being charged they can take the quiz on a paper version. The
students, when they finish with the paper copy, must turn it into the teacher. Before the student
leaves, the teacher will show the students their grades. If students fly through the quiz they will
start their homework. The assignment after the quiz allows for quiet work so other students can
finish their own quiz. I had to modify a quiz for a student who is in quarantine. They have not
been able to watch the videos that have been featured in class, so I removed the video
questions from their quiz. The student will still be able to take the quiz.

VIII. Self-evaluation

1/31/2022

The students had a review day today. They had the opportunity to review all the content
that would appear on the quiz. I had a homework assignment the night before which was a
review for the quiz. I first went over that and all the students seemed to be paying attention. We
then went to review games and seemed to have no problem at all. The students were engaged
and on task. They all seemed as though they wanted to do well with the games. Before we
could get to the review games, I had students who wanted to act up while I was showing a
video. In the first few minutes of the class, I had a video with a guided sheet that we did not
finish from class on friday. As the video was playing I was walking around assisting students
who had questions. Unbeknownst to me, two boys who were charging their tablets together
were acting up. Ms. Smith stepped in to tell the boys to knock it off. I would say for this self
evaluation today I want to work more on being aware in the classroom. I was busy with so many
little things that I was missing something important that was going on, such as the two boys
messing around in the room.

2/1/2022

The students were engaged in getting the quiz done. The students overall did an
amazing job. I had a student in 5th period that immediately came up and asked for a second
attempt. I told them that I would have to look and take into account all other students. The
student who asked to retake the quiz, refused to participate or turn in any other homework
assignments leading up this assignment. After the students finished the quiz they started their
homework. I walked around the room for a bit and assisted students who needed assistance
within their iPads. I do need to work on elaborating the instructions. At least for period 7, I told
them an instruction three times. Some of the students were so engrossed with getting ready for
the quiz that they missed my announcement three times. In the future, I want to look at possibly
adjusting my approach to the quiz. I feel as though the assessment might have been too easy
for some students. While other students saw it as a perfect challenge. I want to work on finding
the right assessment.
