Essay On Learning Disabilities
Students with learning disability learns differently, but this does not mean that they will not be
able to learn or that the expectations for them must or will be lowered. My mom is a public school
teacher, and she believes that it is everyone’s responsibility specially school teachers like her,
counselors, administrators, and parents, to provide these children with the necessary knowledge and
resources to support their learning needs, as well as to ensure that they are well-prepared for school.
This is where assessment takes place. It should be part of a teachers teaching process that allows them
to identify and address learning gaps as well as to keep students engaged in their studies. If a student is
struggling to achieve learning outcomes, teachers should not only explore new teaching approaches, but
also provide the student with more opportunities to succeed. Moreover, students with learning
disabilities are frequently labeled as stupid, dumb, or underachieving, which is why, in addition to
assisting them academically, teachers should provide positive reinforcement in the form of support and
encouragement to ensure that they emerge with a strong sense of self-worth, confidence, and the
willpower to persevere even when things get tough.
Students with learning disabilities are facing numerous adversities, but if educators can properly
identify them and then provide specialized instruction to help them learn positive coping strategies and
encourage them to develop their self-worth and self-efficacy, they will be able to overcome their
limitations and achieve success.
