OUTCOME BASED EDUCATION PLAN of English – Grade 7

(DIRECT METHOD)

Link sentences using logical connectors that signal chronological and logical sequence

I. Learning Outcomes: At the end of the lesson the students are able to:

COMPETENCIES: (GRAMMAR AND WRITING/ ATTITUDE)

1. Identify Subordinating Conjunctions.


2. Write clear and coherent sentences with the use of subordinating
conjunctions; and
3. Display tactfulness when communicating with others through a creative
presentation appreciating the use of subordinating conjunctions.

III. Learning Procedures:

A. ORGANIZATION OF THE CLASS.


The teacher greets the pupils then start the class with an opening prayer, check
attendance and asks them a few ordinary questions: How are you today?
Students’ Response Vary.

B. DRILL:
The teacher groups the class in to 5 teams then conducts Conjunction Word Wall using
Google Jamboard online application. Students write down all the words they can think of
that are conjunctions. The teacher removes duplicate conjunctions then create a wall with
all the suggestions.

C. APPERCEPTION: (connect the previous lesson to today’s lesson)

C.I REVIEW
The teacher reviews on Conjunctions. The teacher conducts Wheel of
Conjunctions from words listed in the Jamboard. The teacher shares the link to the class
then students spin the wheel and use their random pick of conjunction in a sentence. Note:
The words listed in the link are random conjunctions expected from the student’s list. —

C.II MOTIVATION
The teacher presents an article to the students and asks for volunteer to read it aloud in
the virtual room.

Corona Virus

Corona virus is now a global pandemic because it already affects the


economy and the lives of the people worldwide. In order for us to prevent getting infected
we need to observe the necessary precautions as what the health organizations prescribe.
Since our country, Philippines, is developing one we need not only the vaccine to cure us
but also in simple ways to get rid of it. All we have to do is to stay safe in the meantime
while the experts are doing their best to fight this deadly disease.

Questions to be asked to random students:


1. What is Corona Virus?
Answers may vary
2. What are you going to do to prevent corona virus?
Answers may vary
3. How will you react to this issue?
Answers may vary.
4. Can you identify the hidden conjunctions found in the paragraph? How many are
they?
Answer: because, in order, as, since, but, while 6 conjunctions.
D. PRESENTATION:

The teacher highlights the subordinating conjunctions in the MS PowerPoint based on the
article about Corona Virus.
1. Corona virus is now pandemic because it already affects worldwide.

The teacher introduces the topic subordinating conjunctions. The teacher explains that a
subordinating conjunction is a word or phrase that links a dependent clause to an
independent clause.

The teacher explains the subordinating conjunctions used in the paragraph given.
Because is used to joined two clauses: independent and dependent clauses. In order is
used to join two clauses one of them expresses an action, the other expresses the
purpose. As is used show cause-and-effect relationships. Since is used when we want to
focus more on the result than the reason. But is used to connect ideas that contrast.

E. ACTIVITY

The teacher asks the students to identify subordinating conjunctions in the 10 items
activity. The activity well be done in quizzes— an interactive online application.

Directions: Read each sentence. Identify the subordinating conjunction used in the
sentence. Choose letter of your answer. You will have 10 seconds to answer each item.
F. ENRICHMENT
The teacher uses the same group from the drill activity. Each group studies their topic that
suggest effects of Covid19 and construct an essay out from their topic with the use of
subordinating conjunction.

Direction: The essay must contain 3 paragraphs: 2-3 sentences for the Introduction: 5-10
sentences for the Body: and 4-5 sentences for the conclusion. Observe teamwork and
cooperation with the group to ensure success in the group activity. Show tactfulness and
gender sensitive awareness.

IV.ASSESSMENT TASK.
The teacher conducts an assessment task for the students to assess their understanding
of the topic subordinating conjunctions. The teacher asks the groups to present their idea
on the essay in a creative presentation. It could be though virtual role playing, song
composition, poem composition, reporting, news report, radio reporting, etc. The students
brainstorm on how to deliver their topic to the virtual classroom.

V. ASSIGNMENT.
The teacher asks the students to research an article/journal/news/poem/short story/ or
song and print it. Locate the subordinating conjunctions by underlining it.
