Najwa Shihab is a television news anchor and reporter.

She started her journalistic career at


RCTI in 2001 before joining the then recently established Metro TV. Najwa Shibab joined Metro
TV as news presenter since 2001 and in 2005, she became the News anchor of the program
“Mata Najwa” and founded a news startup called Narasi TV in 2018.

When second grade of high school, Najwa Shihab had the opportunity AFS (American
Field Service), Namely student exchange program to the United States, the program is
implemented by the Foundation for community development, Intercultural for over a year in the
us. First, she early endeavors in RCTI, 2001. But later, She chose to join the Metro TV. Najwa
Shibab joined Metro TV as news presenter since 2001 and in 2005, she became the News anchor
of the program “Mata Najwa”.

A lot achievement of najwa shihab’s grab and obtain various award, as from PWI
(Association Journalist of Indonesia) central and PWI Jaya to reports from Aceh, when disaster
of tsunami hit the area, December 2004, Nana also took the awards on Day of National Press
(HPN) on February 9 2005, Nana won the award to day of national press award. 2006 she was
elected as a best journalist of Metro TV, and empties best nomination news ancor of Panasonic
awards. In the same year, with a number of journalists from various countries, Najwa be chosen
as participants senior journalist of seminar held in several us cities, and as the speaker in
convention asian american journalist association 2007, besides back in nomination news ancor in

In 2008, Najwa Shihab departed for Australia as a Full Scholarship for winning the
Australian Leadership Awards, to deepen legal science of media. In 2010, Najwa Shihab back on
as best news Presenter nomination Panasonic Awards. In 2011, Najwa Shihab awarded Asian
Television Awards (ATA) as the second winner or Highly Commended for Best Current Affairs
Presenter in the show “Mata Najwa” on Metro TV. In 2009, also became the second champion
and in 2007 finished third. Najwa Shihab from Metro TV award winning of Young Global
Leader (YGL) 2011 of the World Economic Forum (WEF), based in Geneva, Switzerland, for
the professional achievement, commitment to society and potential contribution in shaping the
future of the world with leadership that inspires young people against the other.

Najwa Shihab is the first journalist to interview President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono,
shortly after the inauguration. Almost all the national political space she ever interviewed.
International figures who once she interviewed, among others, is a former Deputy Prime
Minister of Malaysia Anwar Ibrahim.

Najwa Shihab is an Indonesian journalist. her journalistic career at RCTI in 2001 before joining
the then recently established Metro TV. In the immediate aftermath of the 2004 tsunami, Shihab
was flown to Aceh to file stories. There she witnessed the destruction caused by the tsunami
alongside the decomposing bodies found all over the streets. Her reports and the interview with
government officials raised her profile.[2][3] She also received an award from the Indonesian
Journalists Association for her reports. In 2008 Shihab received an Australian Leadership
Awards scholarship to study media law at the University of Melbourne. After more than a decade
at Metro TV, she quit the news channel in August 2017 and founded a news startup called Narasi
TV in 2018.
Najwa Shihab menjadi perempuan paling dikagumi di Indonesia Tahun 2020 pada Indonesi Most Admired 2020 based on YouGov's Annual Study yang mencapai
angka 18,52%, Wanita 43 tahun ini selain menajdi ibu juga sebagai Founder Narasi TV dan Pembawa acara Mata Najwa.

Setelah membangun karir selama tujuh belas tahun di salah satu stasiun TV
terbesar di Indonesia, akhirnya pada tahun 2018, Najwa Shihab mengambil sebuah
langkah besar dengan mendirikan sendiri sebuah perusahaan berita dan media omnichannel
bernama PT Narasi Citra Sahwahita atau yang lebih dikenal dengan Narasi TV.
Narasi TV menyajikan berbagai macam konten dengan mengangkat beragam tema serta

mengambil banyak potensi yang ada dari para anak muda Indonesia.

Sifat kepemimpinan yang patut dicontoh dari najwa sihab

1. Mengajari bukan memerintah


Najwa menerapkan pada dirinya untuk harus paham mengenai tanggung jawabnya yang dia
punya dan apa yang dilakukan, sehingga ketika rekan kerjanya mengikuti nya, dia akan merasa
bertanggung jawab. leadership with authority itu dibutuhkan namun yang lebih penting adalah
leadership is action not position, leadership is earn not given.
2. Optimis
Keputusannya untuk hengkang dari Metro TV dan mendirikan perusahaannya sendiri
bukan sesuatu yang mudah. namun Najwa tetap optimis dan membangun media digital
Narasi yang menurutnya penuh dengan tantangan, penuh dengan trial dan error dalam
hal produksi konten hingga bisa berdiri sampai saat ini.

3. Membangun komunikasi
Najwa membanagun komunikasi yang baik pada timnya, dia selalu memotivasi timnya
untuk speak up. Menurutnya tidak ada ide yang terlalu kecil untuk diutarakan. Ide ini
pun tidak boleh sekedar ide, tetapi harus didalami hingga selesai.

1) Build Communication
Najwa makes everyone feel comfortable in expressing ideas they have. According to
Najwa, the key in the development of the industry this is who can package the
information as attractive as possible. It is important for a company to be able to display
one content that original and unique. This is what underlies Najwa to encourage people in
her company to be brave in speaking, brave in do new things, and also dare to do trial and
error

2) Be leader not a boss

According to Najwa, it is important for a leader provide examples. Leaders must want to
be at the forefront not to hesitate try new things. With the development of the times, the
industry is getting faster changed so that she and Narasi TV employees are required to
learn more

3) Develop employees

Every two weeks, the company will make a class sharing session for learning. In fact,
Najwa too encourage its employees to be able to attend seminars abroad and then be able
to share their knowledge with other colleagues so that when they return to company, they
will come up with new ideas and innovations so as not to be left behind.

4) Have the ability to achieve goals

As a leader, Najwa always provides media or a space for exchanging ideas between
directors and subordinates that can accommodate them to share opinions, express
opinions, or provide criticism and suggestions as feedback so that the quality of their
performance can be improved to achieve their goals.
