Intra Round, March 2022 - Instructions
INFORMATION CIRCULAR
GNLU/MCC/01/2022
1. The results of this Intra Round shall apply to the allocation of all moots during the
period starting from March 2022 to July 2022 except:
• Stetson International Environmental Law Moot Court Competition, 2022-23
• FDI International Arbitration Moot, 2022
• Any such other moots for which Challenger Rounds may be announced by the
Committee from time to time.
For the aforementioned moots, Challenger rounds shall be conducted by the Moot Court
Committee in April-May 2022. The dates and modalities shall be informed to the
students in due course of time.
2. Following the Intra Round and upon the allotment of a moot, the student shall become
ineligible to participate in any Challenger rounds conducted for the aforementioned
moots.

3. Students who wish to participate as Oralists must register for the Intra Round in a team
comprising of two members. Students who wish to participate only as Researchers must
registered individually as researchers.
4. Registration shall be made via filling the details in the Google Form attached in the e-
mail.
• Students interested to register as a team of two oralists shall fill the Registration for
Oralists. It is sufficient for one member of a team to fill the Form.
• Students interested to register only as Researchers shall fill the Registration for
Researchers.
• It is compulsory for the students of the 2021-2026 Batch, who did not participate in
the First Years’ Intra Round organised in November 2021, to participate in the
Intra Round being organised in this semester. The said students are required to
register themselves as Researchers individually, and fill up the Registration Form
for Researchers. Additionally, they are required to provide their details through the
following link: Registration for the 2021-2026 Batch.
• Separate e-mails for the purpose of registration shall not be considered.
5. Registration for the Intra Round shall close on Saturday, 5 March 2022, at 11:59 PM.
Kindly note that:
• Incomplete or incorrectly filled registration forms will not be accepted.
• Late registrations shall not be entertained.
6. Codes shall be allocated to the teams and researchers on a first come-first serve basis.
For example, the first team making a registration will be allocated team code A01, the
second will be allocated team code R01, and so on, similarly for researchers. A list of
team and researcher codes will be released to the participants by Monday, 7 March
2022.
7. The last date for withdrawal of participation from the round shall be Friday, 18 March
2022 by 5:00 PM.
Any withdrawal post this date shall entail a ban on mooting/moot allotment in the
present and subsequent semesters.

8. The last date for seeking clarifications to the moot problem is Thursday, 10 March 2022
by 5:00 PM. Send in your queries to [email protected] with the subject “Clarifications
for the Intra Round”. No clarification shall be sought after the deadline mentioned
above.
9. Memorial submission for the Intra Round shall take place on Thursday, 24 March 2022
by 5:00 PM.
10. The oral pleadings for the Intra Round will take place virtually from Saturday, 26
March 2022 to Sunday, 27 March 2022. Detailed Guidelines with respect to technical
aspects of the online oral pleadings will be released closer to the dates of the oral
pleadings.
11. The formatting for memorials must be done as per the Annexure provided at the end
of this document.
12. Any similarity detected between memorials as a result of a plagiarism check will lead
to automatic disqualification of team or the researcher.
13. In case of any ambiguity, conflict or issue regarding these instructions or their
interpretation, the matter shall be referred to MCC Convener and the decision of the
MCC Convener shall be final.

ANNEXURE
GUIDELINES FOR FORMATTING OF MOOT MEMORIALS
The following are the formatting guidelines to be followed for memorials that are to be
submitted for all the Intra Round being organised this semester:
1. The Memorial shall consist of the following mandatory heads:
i. Cover Page (not exceeding 1 page)
ii. Table of Contents
iii. List of Abbreviations
iv. Index of Authorities
v. Statement of Jurisdiction (not exceeding 1 page)
vi. Statement of Facts (not exceeding 2 pages)
vii. Issues Raised (not exceeding 2 pages)
viii. Summary of Arguments (not exceeding 2 pages)
ix. Arguments Advanced (not exceeding 25 pages)
x. Final Submission /Prayer (not exceeding 1 page)
2. The Memorial shall be typed on A4-sized paper, with the following mandatory
formatting specifications:
i. Font Type: Times New Roman
ii. Font Size: 12
iii. 1.5 line Spacing
iv. Margins: 1 inch on each side
v. Alignment of Text: Justified
4. The Memorial shall not contain any annexure, photographs, graphs, diagrams or
any representation of like nature.

5. Footnotes should be limited to only citations or any other information relevant to
the arguments. In no event shall footnotes contain extra or irrelevant information
and in no case shall footnotes contain arguments (Hereinafter referred to as
“Speaking Footnotes”).
7. Style of Citation
For the purpose of citing authorities mentioned in the list of authorities and Arguments
Advanced, the 20th edition of the Harvard Bluebook Citation Style shall be
followed.
8. Deductions
The Written Submissions have to be formatted as per the point 1-7 of these Guidelines,
however only the following deductions would be attracted in case of a violation of the
said Guidelines.
• All Citations must be made as per the 20th edition of the Harvard Bluebook
Citation Style. The violations indicated below include incorrect citations in the
Index of Authorities or in the footnotes in the Arguments Advanced, use of
Speaking Footnotes (in Statement of Jurisdiction and/or Arguments Advanced),
citing of authorities in Arguments Advanced not mentioned in the Index of

Authorities and non-citing of authorities in Arguments advanced which are
mentioned in the Index of Authorities. The deductions for which will be as follows:
• Non-compliance with font size, font type, spacing and alignment in main text and
footnotes (as specified in Point 2 and 3 of these Guidelines) in the Arguments
Advanced and Prayer will attract a deduction of 0.25 marks per violation up to a
maximum of 2 marks.
• Additionally, in case of absence of a mandatory head within the memorial, 1 mark
will be deducted for every head. In case the page limit, as prescribed for various
heads, is exceeded, 0.25 marks will be deducted per page exceeded with a
maximum deduction of 2 marks. The mandatory heads and the page limits have
been specified in Point 1 of these Guidelines.
• Separate deductions will be made for late submission of the Written Submission,
plagiarism and copying. The quantum of deduction will be decided by the Faculty
Convenor of the Moot Court Committee.
• There will be no separate deductions made in the memorial scoresheet for the
violations specified here.
