ACTIVITIES: Pre-lesson Constructive feedback
Two different scenes of a comic strip will be posted on the whiteboard. Both the
MORAL VALUES:
scenes of the comic contain dialogues on the direct speech and reported speech. Spirit of Adventure
Pupils will be asked if they could find any difference between both the direct and Respecting other cultures
reported speech from the dialogues. Pupils will be asked to guess the topic that they
are going to learn once they have identified the difference between both the direct
and reported speech from the dialogues.

Lesson delivery
LO and SC is introduced.

Activity A:
1. A mah-jong paper which contains short notes on the direct
speech and reported speech will be pasted on the whiteboard.
2. Detail explanations together with examples will be given to the
pupils from the short notes that have been pasted.
3. After explaining the notes, pupils will be asked to complete a
worksheet based on the reported speech questions from the
textbook page 75.
4. 5 – 8 minutes will be allocated for the pupils to complete the
activity.
5. The questions will be discussed together with the pupils once
they have completed it.
(Differentiation: Good pupils should be able to change the
statement without any help and clues. The intermediate level
pupils should be able to change the statement with the clues
given. The weaker pupils should be able to change the
statement with the clues given.)

Activity B:
1. A short game on the direct speech and reported speech will be
played with the pupils.
2. Teacher will prepare few statements 6 direct speech statements.
3. For this game, teacher will use a wheel spinner to select random
pupils in group of 3 to change the statement given.
4. Each statement will be kept in an envelope and each envelope
will be given to a group.
5. The pupils will be receiving a direct speech statement in an
envelope.
6. After receiving the direct speech statement, pupils have to
change into a reported speech statement with help of their pair.
7. After the pupils have answered the question, the game will be
resumed until the 6 statements are changed.
8. Guidance will be given to the pupils throughout the game.
9. Answer will be discussed right away.

Post-lesson:
At the end of the lesson, a Q&A (questions and answers) session will be held with the
pupils. Recap LO and SC
