LESSON 1: THE HUMAN REPRODUCTIVE SYSTEM

EXPECTATIONS

This module was designed and written with you in mind. It is here to
help you master the male and female reproductive system. The scope of this
module permits it to be used in many different learning situations. The
language used recognizes the diverse vocabulary level of students. The
lessons are arranged to follow the standard sequence of the course. But the
order in which you read them can be changed to correspond with the
textbook you are now using.

The module is divided into three lessons, namely:

 Lesson 1 – 1 – The Male Reproductive System Parts and Functions

 Lesson 2 – The Female Reproductive System Parts and Functions
 Lesson 3 – Human Reproductive System

After going through this module, you are expected to:

1. identify the parts and functions of the male reproductive system

S5LT- lla.1.1.1.1.a
2. identify the parts and functions of the female reproductive system
S5LT-lla-1.1.1.1.2.a
3. describe each functions of the male and the female reproductive
system S5LT-lla- 1.1.1.1.2.b

Let us start your journey in learning more on human reproductive system.

I am sure you are ready and excited to answer the Pretest.
Smile and cheer up!

BRIEF INTRODUCTION

All living things can produce their own kind. Human beings, like all
other living things, can reproduce. They have body parts consist the
reproductive system. Reproduction is the process through which living
things produce other living things of their own kind.

The Male Reproductive System

The external
organs of the male
reproductive system are
located just below the
abdomen. The main
parts of the male
reproductive system are
the testes, vas deferens,
urethra, scrotum and the penis. Source: https://images.app.goo.gl/1Uj3ufJUN4xpKQt59

A sperm cell is needed to fertilize an egg cell. Hormones are responsible

for the development of adult male characteristics.

5
The Female Reproductive System

The main parts of the female

reproductive system are the ovary,
fallopian tube, uterus, cervix and vagina.
The egg cell is only one-tenth of a
millimeter, about the size of the diameter
of a hair strand.

muscular organ for depositing sperms in the vagina and release of urine
and semen.

REMEMBER

Female Reproductive System

Parts Description
Ovaries Produce the ovum or an egg cell
Fallopian Tubes Transports the egg from the ovaries to the uterus
Uterus An elastic muscle where the fetus grows for nine
months
Cervix A narrow opening of the uterus into the vagina
Vagina Canal A passageway between the uterus and cervix
Vulva An opening of vagina canal

Male Reproductive System

Parts Description
Testes/Testicles Two egg–shaped bodies where the sperms are
produced
Scrotum Sac-like structure that enclose the testes
Penis Muscular organ for depositing sperms in the vagina
and release of urine and semen
Epididymis A coiled tube within the scrotum where complete
maturation of sperms takes place.
Vas deferens A duct that transports sperm from epididymis to the
ejaculatory ducts
Seminal Vesicle A pair of glands at the base of the urinary bladder
that provides energy for the sperm cell
Prostate Gland Secrets a fluid that helps the sperm move and survive
