This 3 credit hour course provides an analysis of international organizations and their role in maintaining international peace and stability. The course objectives are to help students understand the role of international organizations in contemporary international relations and to provide knowledge of the structure and functions of major organizations. The course covers the nature, evolution, and classification of international organizations as well as a critical examination of key organizations like the League of Nations and United Nations, including their history, objectives, principles, structures, and roles in conflict resolution and promoting human rights. It also addresses economic organizations like the IMF and World Bank and considers the future role and significance of international organizations in an increasingly globalized world.

This course provides a critical analysis of the key features and legal issues associated with international (intergovernmental) organizations under international and domestic laws such as international legal personality, immunities or management of peace and security by the international organization.
