THE EGG

Size Approximate size in DK/3 mm hook (worsted/3.5 mm hook)

XS 4 cm/1.6 inch (5.5 cm/2.2 inch)
S 5.5 cm/2.1 inch (7 cm/2.8 inch)
M 7 cm/2.8 inch (8.5 cm/3.3 inch)
L 8 cm/3.3 inch (9.5 cm/3.7 inch)

Abbreviation (American crochet terms): sc = single crochet, inc = increase, dec = decrease, sts = stitches
For invisible decreases insert hook into front loops of two stitches, yarn over and pull through both loops.
Now you have two loops on the hook. Yarn over and pull through both loops on the hook. Fill the egg with
toy stuffing. To close the egg, cut the yarn after second last round and draw through the loop on the hook
and thread yarn on darning needle. Insert needle in front loop of next stitch from outside to inside and draw
yarn through, repeat for all stitches (6 in total) and draw yarn tight to close hole. Insert needle into the center
of the ring coming out on the side of the egg and pull through. Now sew in the yarn and cut off the end.

UNI
Uni colored eggs are worked in spirals. They can be decorated with cross stitch pattern.

PATTERN
Eggs with pattern are worked in rounds. To start the egg, crochet 6 sc into the magic ring and slip stitch into
the first stitch of the round. This slip stitch is ignored in the stitch count. To begin the next round, chain 1 and
sc into the first stitch (= same that was used for slip stitch join). Work all stitches around ignoring the slip
stitch from the previous round, slip stitch into first stitch to close the round.
To change color in the next row, make slip knot in new yarn, end row by inserting hook into first stitch to make
slip stitch and pull through the slip knot loop of the new color. Now continue with chain 1 with the new color
to start the next round. To change color in the middle of a row, make last stitch of old color as follows: insert
hook into next stitch and pull through a loop with old color, yarn over with new color and pull new color
through both loops on the hook and continue with new color.
