GUIDELINES FOR UNDERGRADUATE DEGREE Course Based Project REPORT

Following are the guidelines the candidate should read before preparing and submitting his / her
Course Based Project report in partial fulfillment of the requirements of the Degree that he / she
has undertaken.

1. A candidate has to prepare Course Based Project report and submit the Report to the
Director of respective School through his / her Project Guide before the last date fixed by the
University.

2. Copies of Course Based Project report: keeping the soft copy ready in word and pdf
format.

3. Order of Content
 Cover Page
 Title page
 Candidate’s Declaration page - containing the signature of the candidate, guides, and
Director of the School.
 Certificate by the Guides and the Director of the School concerned for having completed
the project and prepared the report as per the requirements of the University.
 Acknowledgements
 Table of Contents (with page references)
 List of Figures (with titles and Page references)
 List of Tables (with titles and page references)
 List of Abbreviations
 Abstract
 Chapter 1: Introduction
 Chapter 2: Literature Survey
 Chapter 3:
 and Chapter 4 so on ….
 References,
 Appendices(Bill of materials)
 Copies of Conference/ Article papers published (If any)

4. Cover Page:
The cover page of the Course Based Project report should be of Orange colour, the details of
typeface and font, the size of the letter, the spacing and the matter to be presented in the cover
page is provided in the specimen

5. Title Page:
Title page may contain the similar information in the same format. However, if it is a Team
Project and more than one student has participated in the project, the name of all the team
members shall appear under “submitted by”.

6. Certificate Page
a. The certificate in the enclosed format shall be provided in the Course Based Project
report.

7. Acknowledgement
If the candidate intent to give an introduction or prelude to the topic of the Course Based Project
report undertaken, he may present so briefly. He may also acknowledge the persons who have
guided / extended their support and cooperation in carrying out the project. Such
acknowledgement should not be lengthy and personalized.

8. Table of contents
This page is a contents page, wherein the candidate has to give chapter wise content and the page
numbers. He / She may also give subtitles of the chapter with page if one wants to do so.

9. List of Tables
If the project report contains the tables such tables with the title of the table and the pagination
should be listed here.

10. List of Figures


If the project report contains the figures such figures with the title of the figure should be listed
here.

11. Abstract
An Abstract shall be included in the preliminary section of the Course Based Project report . The
abstract in the body of Course Based Project report shall be in the same style as that used in the
rest of the Course Based Project report and shall be placed after the Certificate page. The
Abstract shall reflect the contents of the Course Based Project report & shall not exceed 500
words.

12. Chapters (The Content of the Report)


Chapters are the body of the content arranged chapter wise, from 1 st Chapter to the concluding
Chapter. The typeface and font of the letters to be used, margins to be maintained, spacing

between the lines etc have to be followed uniformly in the text as provided below. Normally the
text of the report/dissertation shall contain the following:
Introduction
Literature Survey
Proposed Work
Result Analysis
Conclusion & Future Scope

13. Typeface & Font

The candidates have to use following Size of Letter Fonts in Times New Roman:
a) Chapter & Chapter Name – Bold letters, Font size – 16,
b) Main section – Bold letters, Font size – 14,
c) Sub-section –Bold letters, Font size – 12,
d) Other topics and Explanation –Normal letters, Font size – 12,

It should be noted that Script or ornamental fonts shall not be used. Print must be letter
quality. Accent marks and hand annotations must be done, neatly in black ink.

14. Margins
Margins on the binding edge must be 1.5 inches and all other margins (Right / Top / Bottom)
must be one inch. Pagination, headers, and/or footers may be placed within the margin, but
margin from the edge of the page should be maintained as foresaid.

18. Spacing
One and a half or double spacing is to be followed in the main body excepting in presenting foot
notes, tables etc which may be single space. Final copies of the Project Report / Dissertation
must be clear and attractive. Each copy should be reviewed for evenness and clarity of type,
missing pages and crooked text.

19. Pagination (Page numbering)


Each page of the manuscript, including all blank pages, and pages with photographs, tables,
figures, maps, Computer printouts shall be assigned a number. Consistent pagination, at least
one-half inch from the right-hand top corner of the page, shall be used throughout the Project
Report / Dissertation. Further it may be noted that:
a. For the preliminary pages, small Roman numbers (i, ii, iii, iv etc.) shall be used.
b. For the remainder of the Thesis (from Chapter-1 onwards), the continuous pagination in
Decimal numerals (1, 2, 3, and so on) shall be followed.

20. Landscape
For Text, Illustrations, Charts, Graphs, etc. printed in landscape form, the orientation shall be
facing away from the bound edge of the paper.

21. References
References of all the documents such as articles in journals, conference papers, books,
reports etc., used in carrying out the project works and in preparing the reports shall be listed
under the references. The IEEE standards may be used for listing the references. The reference
list shall be ether in order of reference number used in the body of the report or be in alphabetical
order.

22. Appendices
The candidate have to furnish the appendices such as bill of materials data sheet., under this
section.

Important to Note

a. Address of the candidate / Guide must be School / College address where Project
was carried out. The Address shall not contain personal affiliation or any other official
information / details about the candidate / Guide such as qualification, designation, etc.

b. Official logo / symbol of the REVA University / Research Institute must not be used
anywhere in the Project Report / Dissertation.

c. No dedication of any sort is permitted anywhere in the Project Report / Dissertation
