Define Self Analysis. Why it is important?

Self analysis is catalyst to self-improvement and self-love. And both are important for
growth. It gives our mind clarity to think in right direction. We tend to focus more on
how to make a positive outcome with all the personality traits we have.  Even when we
see negative sides in other's personality we try to reason those with our own behavior
that results in good communication in friend circle and work place.

Self analysis enables us to be mindful of our actions, words and motives. And
mindfulness is key to peace and happiness. Self analysis is the first step toward every
goal, target or height of success the one wants to reach. Because the journey starts
within ourselves. Self analysis gives us road map to become the kind of person we want
to be. Because it opens a way to think about ourselves and everything else which has
made us what we are today. And when we analyze ourselves we know everything
about ourselves that needs to be changed or improved within ourselves in order to
grow.

Investigating the self for a superior understanding your own contemplations and
feelings. The endeavor to apply psychoanalytical standards to concentrate on your own
conduct, sentiments and drives some way or the other.

IMPORTANCE:

Undertaking psychometric tests

A good starting point would be to undertake some psychometric tests where you will
answer a number of questions and be provided with a report and your results.
Psychometric tests involve a series of structured questions that provide a measurement
of aspects of your personality. They can help to identify your strengths, weaknesses,
motivations and possibly also suggest alternative careers suited to your personality
characteristics. Psychometric tests are objective and often used in the recruitment
process by employers to assess whether your skills, knowledge and personality fit
within the role and organization.

It can be useful to undertake these so that you can gain an understanding of what type
of role and organization you are best suited to. Most advanced and in-depth
psychometric tests will carry a fee, however, there are some introductions to
psychometric testing that are free to try which will cover the fundamentals and give
you an overview of your personality type

Creating your own essentials and desirables

Employers will often give you a list of essential and desirable criteria on a job
description. You can treat your self-analysis in a similar way by writing your own list of
essential and desirable criteria. By listing your essential and desirable criteria you can
ensure that you conduct a focused job search and only apply for suitable positions.

Analyzing your transferable skills

Analyzing your skills will help you identify what you want to do, and what you are
able to do. It will help with your Career Development Plan, assist in identifying your
transferrable skills, build your confidence and allow you to sell yourself and your skill
set to potential employers in an interview.

Career Changing

Conducting a self-analysis will be particularly important if you are looking to

change career, whether you have a direction in mind or if you are trying to generate
ideas. Having the opportunity to assess your skills, knowledge and experience will
be the best way to get the career change started and give you some solid
foundations on which to build your new career.

You may be looking for a similar role to your last or current job, or perhaps you are
looking for a promotion. A self-analysis exercise will ensure that you become
conscious about the value you can bring to your new role and will assist you in
communicating your unique selling points and marketing yourself throughout the
application process.

It can be beneficial to identify opportunities in your current work place which will
enable you to use your strengths and skills. Keep an eye on opportunities which
arise in the area of the business that interests you and align your goals with your
company’s objectives.
What is SWOT Analysis?
SWOT analysis is a technique developed at Stanford in the 1970s, frequently used
in strategic planning.

SWOT is an acronym for Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities, and Threats and is a

structured planning method that evaluates those four elements of an organization,
project or business venture. A SWOT analysis is a simple, but powerful, framework
for leveraging the organization's strengths, improving weaknesses, minimizing
threats, and taking the greatest possible advantage of opportunities. SWOT analysis
is a process where the management team identifies the internal and external factors
that will affect the company's future performance.

It helps us to identify of what is happening internally and externally, so that you can
plan and manage your business in the most effective and efficient manner. This
technique is designed for use in the preliminary stages of decision-making processes
and can be used as a tool for evaluation of the strategic position of organizations of
many kinds (for-profit enterprises, local and national governments, NGOs, etc.).

It is intended to identify the internal and external factors that are favorable and
unfavorable to achieving the objectives of the venture or project. Users of a SWOT
analysis often ask and answer questions to generate meaningful information for each
category to make the tool useful and identify their competitive advantage . SWOT has
been described as a tried-and-true tool of strategic analysis

Internal and external factors

Strengths and weaknesses are usually considered internal, while opportunities and
threats are usually considered external.  The degree to which the internal strengths of
the firm matches with the external opportunities is expressed by the concept
of strategic fit.

Internal factors are viewed as strengths or weaknesses depending upon their effect
on the organization's objectives. What may represent strengths with respect to one
objective may be weaknesses (distractions, competition) for another objective. The
factors may include personnel, finance, manufacturing capabilities, and all of
the marketing mix’s 4Ps.

External factors include macroeconomics, technological change, legislation, and

sociocultural changes, as well as changes in the marketplace. A number of authors
advocate assessing external factors before internal factors.
