Food is a glorious thing. Many people around the country would agree with you. They'd
probably admit that if there was a more natural and resourceful way to get their food, they'd
take advantage of it right away. Simply by planting a garden, this can be accomplished.
The first advantage of growing your own vegetables rather than purchasing them at the
supermarket is that it is more sustainable. Pesticides and other contaminants are sprayed
liberally on crops by large produce firms. Chemicals and pesticides would be less likely to be
used if one planted a garden. A vegetable garden is a fantastic food source. In certain cases,
having a food source in the backyard is advantageous.
I've learned a lot about planting in our garden, from just deciding what to plant to digging the
soil, watering, and waiting for my crop to bear fruit, which is a stress reliever when we see
how good our plants are. Growing vegetables is difficult because we all know how hot it is at
this time of year, so I keep an eye on my crops to make sure they don't die. Gardening in our
yard is a big help, and it's also a perfect way to get some exercise. Gardening has been shown
to reduce stress, lower blood pressure, lower cholesterol, and reduce depression, in addition
to the help weight loss benefits.
Usually, homegrown vegetables taste better and fresher because they have not been shipped
from somewhere else. Therefore, one would be more apt to eat vegetables and get the vital
nutrients his or her body needs. Plus, these tasty vegetables cost less. Typically, Eggplant,
tomatoes, Okra cost approximately 30- 50 pesos at the store. On the other hand, one could
buy a pack of eggplant, tomatoes, and other plant seeds for the same price but grow more
than five times as many of those.
Finally, consider how much plastic and paper is thrown away when someone buys vegetables
at the supermarket! Vegetables are put in plastic bags by a shopper each different type of
vegetable equals another plastic bag. The cashier then places these plastic bags in paper or
plastic bags. Planting a garden can help to reduce the amount of paper and plastic discarded
in landfills. Planting a garden does not seem to be very environmentally friendly, but it has a
significant effect. Individuals, communities, and the world in which they live all benefit from it.
Everyone can make a difference by planting a garden.
