Tajima Technical Information

This document summarizes software upgrades from version 1.31 to 1.33 for several Tajima embroidery machine models. The upgrades include fixes for software bugs and improvements to operational stability. Issues addressed include incorrect frame travel distances, design displacement after restarting, and automatic stitch type selection not clearing. The upgrades also add the ability to detect thread breaks at the individual needle level.

REASONS

Please refer to the attached sheets for the details.

TIME OF CHANGE AND MFG. NUMBERS APPLICABLE

This change will take effect in December, 1997.

TMCE-602, 604 M/No.1070 and after

TMCE-60902, 61202 M/No.1127 and after

COMPATIBILITY

Upward compatibility is provided.

ACCOMMODATION TO CUSTOMER-INSTALLED MACHINES

Master disks will be provided to distributors for customer-installed machines.

Please be cautious of the setting of the tension base card when installing the soft-
ware.
Machines manufactured in and after December, 1997 M/No. 1127 and after

For the machines given above, the tension base card which can detect upper thread
breakage in the unit of a needle bar is installed. For other machines, please set
“TBC” to “1” since the tension base card is not compatible with the specification.

None of customer-installed machines are equipped with the tension base card which
can detect upper thread breakage in the unit of a needle bar so far.

1
DETAILS OF THE CHANGE

1. TMCE-602, 604

Correcting software problems (3 items)

The following problems will be cleared with the new software.

(1) Frame forward operation by designating the number of stitches cannot be per-
formed after the first design when the embroidery for repeating design is set.

(2) When the data with 128000 stitches or more is stored in memory, the travel dis-
tance of the 128000th stitch is incorrectly recognized as “0” and design displace-
ment occurs after restarting the machine by turning the power off and then on.

(3) When data is input from the tape reader, the automatic stitch type selection data
which was set before data input remains. Existing automatic stitch type selection
data should be cleared when new design data (without automatic stitch type
selection data) is input.

Improving operational stability (1 item)

Stabilizing the position of the looper case and reducing the noise at color change op-
eration. (Acceleration and deceleration will be decreased by 30 %)

2. TMCE-60902, 61202

Specification change (1 item)

To stabilize thread breakage detection in the unit of a needle bar on the FX head, the
software will be changed to detect the signals only from the operating needle bars.

Due to this change, the chances of incorrect detection will be reduced since the sig-
nals from non-operating needle bars will not be detected. To use the machine in this
specification, the tension base card needs to be replaced with the one compatible with
detecting thread breakage in the unit of a needle bar. For the details, please refer to
TTI-2221. However, this specification can also be changed. For the machines
equipped with conventional tension base card, please install the software by following
the procedure given below.

[Setting of tention base card]

When the installation of the software Ver V1.33/V1.33M is started, number of needles
setting item “N_nos: 6+9” will be displayed after version display. When the needle bar
setting appropriate to the machine model is made, the display moves to thread break-
age detection setting and displays “TBC: 2”. Initially, this item is set for detecting up-
per thread breakage in the unit of a needle bar. If the tension base card compatible
with this specification is installed, press SET key without changing the setting.
When the tension base card is not compatible with the specification, change the set-
ting to ”TBC: 1” and press SET key, so that the new software works with the conven-
tional tension base card.

2
Correcting software problems (6 items)

The following problems will be cleared with the new software.

(1) Frame forward operation by designating the number of stitches cannot be per-
formed after the first design when the embroidery for repeating design is set.
(For both FX and CE heads)

(2) When the following operations are performed, ATH operation incorrectly starts.

a) Stop the machine by operating the bar switch while the frame is traveling
over the interval between repeating designs (embroidering on FX heads).
b) Turn the power off and then on to restart the machine.
c) Stop the machine by operating the bar switch, or the machine is stopped due
to thread breakage.

(3) When the data with 128000 stitches or more is stored in memory, the travel dis-
tance of the 128000th stitch is incorrectly recognized as “0” and design displace-
ment occurs after restarting the machine by turning the power off and then on.
(For both FX and CE heads)

(4) When the following operations are performed, design displacement occurs.
(For both FX and CE heads)

a) Stop the machine by operating the bar switch during frame travel over the
intervals between repeated designs with satin stitch length compensation set
on.

b) Turn the power off and then on to restart the machine.

(5) When switching from the FX head to the CE head occurs, main shaft fixed posi-
tion search is not performed for the CE head (there is no problem when switching
from the CE head to the FX head).

(6) When data is input from the tape reader, the automatic stitch type selection data
which was set before data input remains.

3. Other TMCE machines

The modification of the software for TMCE-600 (multi-head) is behind the schedule,
and the software applicable only for TMCE-602, 604, 60902, and 61202 will be re-
leased this time.

We are making our best effort to accommodate all other models as soon as possible.
Please wait for a little while.
